Since Commander asked whether I like this version of Cheshire, I naturally have to give the most energetic answer! This time, I chose to bring Cheshire from Azur Lane into real-world light and shadow at an anime convention venue.
This cosplay outfit actually took quite a long time to prepare and refine in order to recreate the exquisite yet nimble aesthetic of the original design. First is the striking headdress: a patchwork of deep blue and white fabrics, combined with dense lace frills, pearl accents, and little golden stars—assembling and securing it alone took considerable effort. The blue ribbons cascading from both sides of the hat feature exquisite dark-pattern embroidery, complementing the silver-grey short hair to wonderfully support the character's sweet and playful charm.
The neckline design is a highlight of this outfit; I deliberately adjusted the elasticity of the white off-the-shoulder top so the crisscross chest straps captured her lively nature without feeling overly constricting. Resting on the collarbones is a deep blue bow tie with yellow borders and a pink star center that harmonizes with the overall color scheme. The white ruffled cuffs and intricate navy pleating on the sleeves are rich in detail—especially the standalone detached sleeves adorned with perfectly placed pink diamond ornaments, allowing fluid and graceful arm gestures.
What satisfies me most about this costume is the skirt's silhouette and color balance. The navy blue base displayed a luxurious texture under the convention strobe lights, while gold piping and delicate metal chains served as eye-catching highlights. From waist to legs, to match the airy feel of 2D characters, I opted for white hosiery and tied delicate white ribbon bows around the thighs. This White thigh-highs outfit not only elongated body proportions visually, but also expressed the character's innocent yet subtly alluring charm.
The shoot took place along the edge of a massive convention hall, where the dark floor and array of circular ceiling lights created a stage-like spotlight effect. To ensure soft visual warmth, I laid down a round white faux-fur rug. The full-view shot in Photo 2 features a relaxed Japanese-style seated pose, displaying the layered ruffles of the flared skirt while showcasing details like the white ribbons, white stockings, and white shoes to the lens. Paired with royal blue contact lenses and soft, translucent makeup, it conveyed Cheshire's pure, focused, and adorably dazed expression before the camera.
As an immersive Anime cosplay experience, executing this styling was never just about taking a few photos, but about staying immersed in the Azur Lane port atmosphere amidst the bustling convention noise. The moment I put on this costume, I instinctively adjusted my gaze and posture. Every glance up or down toward the camera aimed to convey Cheshire's soothing and warm aura, making this offline gathering all the more meaningful. When everyone spots this little Cheshire with lovely blue-toned hair and bright eyes in the real world and feels their eyes light up, that is truly the unique magic of cosplay.
