Cosplaying Chang'e - "Stellar Vessel" from Honor of Kings this time, we invested immense effort during the preparation phase to recreate the visual impact of this skin (Chang'e cosplay & Chinese-style cosplay). The wig was specifically styled into a towering, elegant updo adorned with fluffy white trims and an intricate golden crown; to prevent the metallic elements from looking cheap under camera reflections, their positions were adjusted repeatedly. The blue-and-white palette complemented by gold accessories creates rich visual layering—especially the flowing sheer tulle and sweeping train, which were quite unwieldy when first put on, but exuded pure celestial grace as they billowed in the air before the camera (Role-playing game).
On the day of the shoot, to match the ethereal aura of this skin, the set was staged with abundant white-and-pink floral branches, paired with smoke cakes to evoke a misty, dreamlike haze. Holding the glowing floral talisman in hand, with simple gold anklets adorning bare feet, this visual sensation of weightlessness was carefully choreographed. The photographer Niu Niu was remarkably skilled with light and shadow—shooting with a Fuji X-M5 and a 27mm f/1.2 lens, the wide aperture performance in low light was genuinely sublime. During on-site discussions, we prioritized eye expressions and embodying the character's intrinsic disposition. Chang'e inherently possesses an aloof, otherworldly solitude; postures could neither be rigid nor overly coquettish. I centered my focus on the poise of my wrists holding props and the extension of leg contours. For instance, reclining against dark fur, I deliberately draped translucent veil fabric over part of the skirt to guide visual attention to the leg lines and fluttering sheer layers, which, contrasted against the warm yellow glow of background lanterns, established wonderful spatial depth through cool and warm interplay.
However, posing with a high-slit gown required extreme caution—ensuring postures looked graceful while keeping the garment from shifting awkwardly meant constant adjustments between takes. The entire shoot felt like painting a canvas, where every meticulous placement dictated the ultimate visual impact. Even the posture for plucking the pipa prop, while seemingly effortless, was carefully angled. Seeing the final cuts fully realize the ethereal, opulent essence of Chang'e - "Stellar Vessel", all the chaotic trials during preparation felt completely worthwhile (Honor of Kings & Chinese-style cosplay).
