Right after opening the package for this Lynette Cosplay costume, all my high expectations instantly turned into a huge wave of disappointment. After waiting six months for this package, receiving something of this quality was truly a headache. I spent a long time preparing for this character, but the actual hands-on experience left much to be desired. Since I already bought it, though, I still had to force myself to put it on to see the overall effect.
First is the issue with the silhouette and cut. The black corset on top provides zero waist cinching whatsoever; wearing it gives me no curves at all. The entire waist and abdomen feel completely unshaped—it's basically a straight tube with no discernible waistline. The white shirt sleeves are far too wide, bunching up to make my shoulders and arms look bulky, completely losing the light and agile charm of Lynette without fitting closely at all. To make it look decent, I repeatedly pinched the sleeves by hand and adjusted the back straps and suspenders for half an hour, yet the result remained stiff and awkward. There is also a rigid structure on the back, so wearing it feels like something is constantly poking against my spine, making movement extremely uncomfortable. Since it's a one-piece dress, there's very little leeway for alterations on my own, making drastic adjustments nearly impossible. Taking it apart to taper the waist would be an immense workload, and the fabric might not even hold up.
Second is the fabric of the skirt hem, which I must emphasize. The skirt really scratches the skin terribly; the stiff tulle inside chafes like tiny, hard thorns. I tried it on wearing black stockings, originally thinking the stockings would offer a good protective layer, but it scratched just the same—only dropping from excruciating pain to severe pain, providing just a tiny bit of relief. Wearing this to an anime convention is basically out of the question; walking around would definitely leave the inner thighs chafed raw or swollen, which is unbearable for a full day. While the material looks substantial, wearing this fabric is simply agonizing. Pairing it with black boots over sheer stockings would normally make the legs look long and sleek, but set against the baggy top, the overall proportion became bizarre and made my legs appear shorter. I spent ages adjusting angles for phone selfies because the chest pads sit at an awkward position and the shoulder straps slip down easily.
Then there are the accessories. The craft of the cat ears bears virtually no resemblance to the sample photos. The sample showed a structured, perky shape, but the actual cat ears are completely limp and floppy. There probably isn't any wire support inside, so no matter how you bend them, they won't hold their shape—wearing them feels almost like wearing nothing, and they fit terribly against the wig. The tail is also very stiff, with an awkward attachment point and angle that severely restricts movement, swinging wildly out of control with the slightest turn.
Despite the costume having so many flaws, she is still my favorite character after all. Lynette is an exceptionally lovely girl, and the original character design is magnificent. So even though the costume didn't achieve the level of accuracy I hoped for, I still wanted to do my best to wear it well. Think of this as paying the price for my love of the character, providing fellow fans who want to buy this outfit with an authentic Cosplay costume review as a reference. The value for money on this set is honestly low, testing both one's crafting skills and pain tolerance.
For anyone considering buying it in the future, I suggest carefully measuring your bust, waist, and hips before deciding. For now, I'm just trying it on indoors to gauge the overall effect, and I don't plan on wearing it to conventions for the time being.
