[Bkornblume Vertin cosplay] Reverse: 1999, Everyday Moments of Bkornblume and Vertin

During the early preparation stages for this Bkornblume Vertin cosplay photoshoot, we spent quite a bit of time deliberating on character temperaments. For these two characters, beyond accuracy of the costumes themselves, we felt the unique "colleague" chemistry between them was also something crucial to showcase. Costume-wise, the dark coat, blue scarf, and Silver hair wig formed a cool-toned visual core, while golden trim and black leather gloves visually conveyed the character's tough, cool nature in detail. To prevent the large areas of black from feeling dull, we made complementary choices in props and set design.

For instance, we chose an indoor scene featuring large red velvet drapes and a retro dark-patterned leather sofa, where the sharp contrast between red and black immediately established a vintage tone. During shooting, we emphasized lighting and composition, using hard light sources precisely hitting the Silver hair wig and blue scarf, which separated the characters from the dark background and created strong light-and-dark contrast. The card-holding action in Photo 1 was envisioned as a subtle interaction in a quiet state, catching natural comfort without forced posing.

The gold picture frame concept in Photo 2 was an idea that emerged midway through shooting. Framing through the edges focused attention on the facial expressions of both cosplayers, creating a picture-within-a-picture sense of interlaced time and space. This composition placed higher demands on camera positioning, but the final outcome truly enriched the overall texture for this Retro portrait. The solo close-up in Photo 3 mainly aimed to restore prop details like headphones and half-masking. When portraying characters with rich lore backgrounds, as a cosplayer, I prefer incorporating my own understanding of character personality rather than rigidly copying original art, allowing expressions and movements to feel more natural.

In terms of hair and makeup, styling the wig took considerable effort to create a slightly messy yet natural hair flow, complemented by subtle eye makeup to highlight eye depth. The two of us kept adjusting collar and glove details throughout to maintain visual consistency. The trickiest part during shooting was managing spatial depth when both were in frame, but fortunately, the photographer was highly skilled in guiding our positions. For Duo cosplay, mutual chemistry is the guarantee of a great shoot; we knew what adjustments to make without needing many words.

After finishing this set, I felt that the final atmosphere of any work relies on costumes, lighting, scene, and the cosplayers' own interpretation working together. This photo set of Bkornblume and Vertin avoids forced tension, focusing instead on portraying the quiet companionship within a moody space. We gained solid practical experience regarding costume prop accuracy and shooting techniques. Interpreting such characters in front of the camera was a deeply fulfilling experience, and I hope to share the thoughts and on-site details behind this shoot.
