[Chisa Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Duo Industrial Style Rooftop Exterior Log

This outdoor shoot selected a semi-abandoned rooftop in Changsha with an orange metal spiral staircase as the main location. The rooftop floor was littered with gravel, surrounded by rusty metal railings and rough industrial water pipes, creating a visually striking environment. I wore a dark short dress with a sailor collar and a red bow tie, layered with a loose greyish-blue windbreaker and tied with a black belt at the waist. My hair was tied up with red ribbons, combined with black over-the-knee socks and short boots, creating a look that balanced techwear vibes with everyday agility. My partner took a tactical-style approach, wearing black tailored pants with a white shirt, an outer black jacket, and a striking white tactical belt with a metal cross buckle, paired with black gloves and a long weapon behind his back, presenting a sleek, cool combat feel.

The weather on the shooting day was surprisingly good. Intense direct sunlight cast strong light-dark contrasts on metal steps and rusty iron frames. Although high-contrast hard light increased light control difficulty, it brought sharp, crisp textures to the photos. To avoid the dead-white midday overhead light, we focused on wide-angle outdoor compositions during morning and afternoon slanting light. Holding the red-and-black curved giant bow, I had to constantly pay attention to my center of gravity because the prop's weight balance was slightly uneven, putting heavy strain on arm strength over time. My partner, carrying a black longsword, had to be extremely careful when turning on the narrow spiral staircase to prevent weapons from clashing noisily against metal railings.

We deliberately utilized the spiral staircase structure to design staggered upper and lower standing positions. This not only created a strong spatial perspective in high and low angles, but also allowed the two different costume styles to complement each other in color—my greyish-blue and red bow tie matched nicely against my partner's black-and-white tactical outfit under the backdrop of the orange staircase. Beyond displaying combat postures, injecting everyday emotional moments is the true soul of a good photo. During mid-session breaks, we sat on iron frames at the rooftop edge drinking canned beverages; sunlight spilled over shoulders from behind, and the photographer keenly captured this natural lifestyle moment. Compared to forced posing with props, this relaxed state aligned better with the character's inner traits.

We continually reflected on composition during shooting, such as using rusty railings as foregrounds or incorporating vast sky negative space and industrial architectural lines through low-angle shots. Since this was shot in pure natural light, we relied entirely on sunlight movement to adjust positioning, sometimes repeatedly adjusting angles and body orientations to capture a beam of light filtering through railings. Though exhausting, this process of game-playing with light made every satisfying shot deeply meaningful. The outfit felt stifling in high temperatures all day, but fully presenting the character's look in this industrial setting while building frame tension with my partner made all efforts worthwhile. This duo cosplay location shoot accumulated precious photography experience, especially regarding balancing visual focal points in complex physical spaces through props and positioning. The final photo set met all our expectations in light layering and style presentation.
