[Okita Souji cosplay] Swimsuit Style at Dalian Seaside: Summer Memories Between Sea Breeze and Reefs

The Dalian seaside and its rugged reefs served as the main stage for this shoot. As the wind swept across, I held onto the edges of my black coat, letting the white serrated hem cut a sharp, crisp silhouette. To match the light, breezy feel of the swimsuit design, I chose a black halter bikini top with white piping, paired with dynamic cross-strap bottoms. This black-and-white palette, complemented by the thick white scarf around my neck and the deep reddish-brown thigh-high stockings, served as the key to this look's visual depth.

Before shooting began, I meticulously groomed the silver-blonde wig to ensure it remained sleek while reflecting a radiant sheen under bright sunlight, with the black velvet bow on top adding a playful touch. The sea breeze at the Dalian seaside was particularly fierce during this season, naturally becoming one of my best "props." When shooting, the moments when the wind caught my coat to reveal the waistline and strappy details were fleeting. I had to constantly adjust my standing and crouching poses to find the right angles, all while balancing on slippery, algae-covered rocks to avoid getting the outfit wet. The third photo captured that exact moment when the wind peaked—the billow of the coat looks vivid and dynamically highlights the sleek lines of the stocking outfit and waist.

After shooting along the reefs for a while, we moved up to a high wooden observation deck to shift the narrative tone. The fourth photo was the result from up there, showing me facing away from the camera, gazing toward the distant bridge spanning the water. Unlike the earlier close-ups that emphasized movement and vitality, this expansive wide shot merged the character into her surroundings. The vast blue sea and lush greenery, combined with the character's silhouette from behind, brought a serene and refreshing summer vibe.

For outdoor cosplay photography, beyond faithfully recreating iconic character elements, communicating with natural light is even more essential. For instance, the afternoon sun perfectly enhanced the glistening water reflections. We skillfully used reflectors to fill in facial shadows and prevent harsh backlighting from washing out delicate details. While the outfit shows some skin, the voluminous black haori robe and fitted stockings provide a balanced aesthetic—never feeling too skimpy, while accentuating the character's nimble, sharp presence by the sea.

Pre-shoot preparations for this on-location shoot took considerable effort: securing the scarf tassels, trimming the white fingertips of the gloves, and coordinating the neckline accessories were all aimed at standing up to close-up scrutiny. Under the blazing sun by the sea, finding the ideal angles and poses was physically demanding, but reviewing the final shots brought that unmistakable vitality of summer waters. The rustle of wind over waves paired with this ensemble captured exactly what I envisioned.
