I sat on the swing for a little while longer, and the Earth Spirits and mists in the frame pulled the atmosphere just right. When setting up this scene, I was thinking about how to capture that feeling of being quiet, a little stubborn, and finding a comfortable posture on one's own when tired. Fortunately, this swing was very sturdy, providing a stable center of gravity and plenty of room to play with.
I really like this Citlali costume styling. The deep purple base combined with blue and pink geometric cuts is visually quite distinctive. The fabric for the coat and skirt was chosen to be micro-elastic, ensuring that it wouldn't deform easily when bending over or raising arms on the swing. The bow on the shoulder and the metal badge on the chest are very finely made, requiring slight adjustments to the angle when wearing them to avoid being pulled by the braids. The circular headpiece on the head is fixed, and the side braids use highlighted wig strands that drape naturally with gravity, looking very natural without much grooming, providing that lazy atmosphere effortlessly.
During the shoot, the several plush doll props around me became great helpers for interaction. Especially that big blue spherical doll; holding it and leaning against the swing rope instantly found that relaxed, daily-life state of the character in the frame. There was also the small ball held in my hand, which could be used as a foreground or a foil during composition, creating a gentle contrast between the relatively wide dark clothing and the soft dolls, making the frame look not monotonous.
Regarding the use of light in this shoot, I want to share something. Since I wanted to fit the nighttime setting, the main light source used warm tones, which looked very soft on the face. The scattered warm light from the string lights in the background combined with the blue and pink flower vines in the foreground—when shooting close-ups like the fourth picture, utilizing the lens blur to blur the flowers and branches made Citlali's gaze towards the lens appear more focused, instantly elevating the atmospheric feel.
Actually, the action in the third picture was meant to be a grabbing or pointing shot. To avoid stretching the arm too deliberately, I instead used the other arm holding the doll to balance the posture, creating an illusion of 'talking to the Earth Spirits'. This kind of narrative implication within the scene is, I think, a very important point for shooting good static Genshin Impact cosplay works; it's not just showing the costume, but also conveying fragments of the character's life. This is the beauty of 2D daily life.
After shooting for a whole day, when I went back to organize the materials and saw the combination of the swing and flower vines, I really felt reluctant to leave this scene. No annoying guys tonight, the Earth Spirits are dozing, the mists are sleeping soundly, and even the 'pillow' in my hand is safe and sound. I send this quietness to you watching the photos in front of the screen. Sweet dreams. Through this Cosplay photography, I hope you enjoy the moment.
