Shooting this black-and-white look was an absolute joy; the overall styling was rooted in classic vintage Lolita aesthetics. The inner layer was a white high-neck lace blouse featuring puff sleeves and ruffled cuffs. Over it, I wore a black sleeveless corset vest where the large front bow and golden buttons created an eye-catching focal point. The lower half was paired with a black miniskirt, finished off with sheer over-the-knee Black stockings and glossy loafers, delivering a clean, crisp composition through stark monochrome contrast.
For hair and makeup, I opted for classic blunt-bang twintails. Long black hair was accessorized with black bow hairclips embroidered in white, with light white frosted highlights at the tips of the twintails to enhance the visual layers within the black-and-white theme. The makeup emphasized pink-toned eyeshadow and blush, paired with red lips and natural-looking contacts, aiming to bring a touch of warmth and vivid life into the cool tones of the snow landscape.
The location was a cozy wooden cabin. The interior preserved abundant raw wood elements, featuring bamboo blinds above the window, beige cushions across the sill, and colorful books arranged below. Outside lay pristine white snow and bare tree branches. This striking contrast between the warm interior wood and the cold outdoor snow, combined with gentle natural light pouring through the window, gave the series a luminous, transparent depth.
In guiding the poses, we experimented with numerous perspectives: sitting sideways on the sill to glance back, perching cross-legged on the cushion, leaning against the wooden wall, and kneeling on the sill to peer through the glass. Wearing Black stockings made me particularly conscious of leg positioning before the camera—extending the leg lines through side-sitting or accentuating the visual tension of the zettai ryouiki between the miniskirt and stockings. Leaving the loafers kicked off beside the cushion for close-ups of stockinged feet added an effortless, relaxed touch.
Although the cabin had heating, lingering near the window still meant feeling the chilly drafts; however, enduring the cold was completely worth it to capture such gorgeous lighting and the snowy atmosphere. The shoot flowed seamlessly, with the lighting harmonizing effortlessly with the garments, making the black-and-white look exceptionally sophisticated against the snowy cabin setting. Both the staging and lighting hit our exact expectations, creating a truly textured Winter portrait set.
