[Plana cosplay] Blue Archive Itasha: A Dimensional Collision of Car and Character

This Itasha-themed Plana cosplay photoshoot was set in a minimalist white studio space, primarily to ensure that the custom Itasha livery and the character's colors stood out cleanly against the pure white background. Controlling light and textures is the most critical part of studio photography, especially when dealing with highly reflective elements like black car paint—balancing the pink and purple highlights on the car body with skin tones was a main priority during preparation. The outfit choice for this shoot maintained Plana's cool, distant aura. Styling the long white wig took quite a bit of care; securing the straight bangs and side braid was essential, as the white accessory on the hat and the signature pink halo above her head had to avoid overlapping in camera while maintaining a complementary angle with the car's livery. The navy sailor collar top with a white necktie paired with a long black trench coat created a sharp silhouette; adjusting the layering between the coat and top was necessary to keep shoulder and waistlines as visual focal points. The combination of a Black tights outfit and brown loafers served as a solid visual anchor between the white floor and the black vehicle, grounding the pose with presence. As for the long black umbrella, it served as a very practical prop, with blue-and-white icon stickers on the handle matching canonical details as closely as possible.

We experimented with various posing angles during the shoot—for instance, one shot leaned a leg against the rear bumper to simultaneously highlight garment tailoring, the sleek lines of the Black tights outfit, and the large custom livery graphics on the car's side, balancing relaxed posture with a clean coat drape. The interior vehicle shot was another major highlight; opening the door allowed us to leverage dark interior lighting, framing a side-by-side contrast between myself and the massive illustration graphic on the door. To control light bleed inside the car, fine adjustments were made to fill light positioning until gear textures were visible while retaining raw ambient tones. Though studio shooting is controlled, holding this look tested endurance. The weight of the long wig combined with headwear accessories and maintaining static poses for extended periods was physically demanding—especially when holding the umbrella or leaning on the car while preventing unnatural fabric folds, making it a dual test of focus.

However, seeing the final edits transformed that fatigue into a sense of achievement. Combining 2D Itasha culture with a modern photography studio yielded a striking cross-dimensional visual effect. To keep the framing from looking overly cluttered, the background was left completely bare, using pure white to embrace character and vehicle alike. Softened ambient lighting toned down harsh paint glare, leaving clear details like "Blue Archive" and "PLANA" lettering. Throughout the shoot, I maintained restrained facial expressions, as a calm, reserved gaze better embodies her character than dramatic emotional displays. From wig fluffiness to the natural drape of coat sleeves and seamless halo integration in post-processing, I'm thoroughly pleased with the final output. Bringing a 2D character together with a real-world automobile truly expands the horizon of Cosplay photography.
