[Hatsune Miku cosplay] The Blue-Haired Bunny Girl in the Rabbit Hole

Today, I wrapped up post-processing for this Hatsune Miku Rabbit Hole shoot set in Qingdao. While Qingdao offers wonderful natural summer light, we deliberately chose an indoor studio set up with a bathtub and neon fixtures to faithfully recreate the psychedelic, sweet-yet-edgy vibe of Rabbit Hole.

Costume-wise, the black patent-leather corset bodysuit features a structured, stiff material that accentuates body curves cleanly, though it remains quite snug to wear. The crimson necktie and black-and-white checkerboard accents at the chest provide striking pops of color across the outfit. To complement the silhouette, I paired it with black fishnet stockings and red thigh garters, which visually elongated the leg lines while harmonizing with the red tie and wrist cuffs.

The wig was styled into light-blue twin tails with slightly tucked-in ends. For makeup and face accents, I added a white band-aid, small pink hearts, and red tear-drop accents down the cheeks, paired with bright cyan contact lenses to deliver a potent anime presence. The plush bunny ear headband required careful angle adjustments to keep from obstructing my eyes, balancing neatly alongside the black bows and heart-shaped hair clips along the pigtails.

For props, the pink plush bunny with cross eyes served as the defining element, providing great interactive possibilities with the bathtub setting. During shooting, we cycled through three core compositions: first, sitting inside the tub hugging the plushie to showcase the complete outfit styling; second, kneeling in the bathtub with fists resting along my cheeks to highlight the fishnet stockings, waist-to-hip contour, and leg lines; and third, leaning forward across the bathtub's edge for a close-up that emphasized the facial makeup, eyes, and direct gaze into the lens.

The lighting technician set strong magenta ambient lights across the scene. Splashing across the white backdrop and porcelain tub interior, the light flooded the space in high-saturation pink and purple. Under this lighting, the black patent leather caught glossy crimson specular highlights, and the diamond patterns of the fishnet stockings remained crisp. To preserve dimension, we introduced subtle shadow falloffs on the sides. While the Qingdao studio was compact, white gravel across the floor and nearby metal scaffolding introduced an industrial, layered edge.

Makeup was engineered to hold up under harsh, colorful lights: a very clean matte foundation, extensively blended smoky eyeshadow, cyan lenses, and subtly drooping bottom lashes to balance innocence with an aloof cool. An orange-toned red lip brightened the complexion and made the skin pop.

Because patent leather is completely non-breathable and holding those precise postures proved physically demanding, the shoot took quite a bit of stamina. Seeing the finished light and shadow made every second worthwhile. The photographer was exceptional at capturing micro-movements—coaching delicate adjustments like curled fingers and slight head tilts—which avoided rigid, static poses. After several hours of shooting, the final photos captured the exact blend of mystery, cuteness, and cyberpunk aesthetic under pink neon lights that I envisioned for the Rabbit Hole theme—a crossover style I have long wanted to explore.
