When shooting this Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Rem Cosplay set, I dedicated significant effort to recreating the details of both hair/makeup and costume. The blue wig needed styling with large rollers first, followed by hair wax to define fluffy, textured layers on the sides and top, while the position of the pink hair accessory required delicate adjustments to stay securely clipped. For contacts, I chose a highly translucent blue style, and the eye makeup focused on elongated eyeliner and blended eyeshadow to accentuate the depth of the gaze. As for the costume, this black-and-white Maid outfit features abundant details—white ruffled collar, cuffs, apron pleats, and black criss-cross chest lacing—that easily wrinkle without careful attention, requiring extensive tidying backstage before shooting. The first photo was taken at the Anime convention venue; with dense crowds and cluttered lighting in the background, I had the photographer lower the camera angle and use a wide aperture prime lens to blur the background and emphasize the subject. During the shoot, I deliberately lifted the skirt hem with my left hand to better showcase the garment's overall silhouette. In contrast to the first shot, the second is a backlit close-up where evening side-backlight created a soft halo effect. Regulating my breath, I folded both hands over my chest lightly touching the neckline and gazed straight into the lens, creating a gentle and serene atmosphere. In terms of character interpretation, referencing her memorable lines, Rem is far more than just a surface-level maid; she possesses profound resilience and tenderness. Even amidst darkness and despair, she holds steadfast trust within her heart. I experimented extensively with subtle expressions and gaze nuances—such as slightly lowering my eyes and modulating gentle smiles—hoping to convey her authentic spirit before the camera. Because the corset cinched very tightly, wearing the outfit necessitated maintaining an upright, poised posture, which helped me quickly immerse myself into the character's mindset. Although walking around the Anime convention was exhausting, capturing the exact look and feeling I strived to portray made all prior preparation completely worthwhile.
