Ever since I received this Wish Realm Star recolor costume, I had been thinking about how to capture that airy and dreamy essence.
For this shoot, we chose a large exhibition hall where linear strip lights on the ceiling provided an excellent top-light environment. Combined with the expansive reflective floor tiles below, the overall atmosphere became exceptionally bright and luminous. The delicate white-and-pink dress, paired with the highly recognizable translucent Elf wings, cast a faint rainbow sheen along the edges under the cool-white venue lighting—a level of visual recreation I was very satisfied with.
The small blue flowers on the wings and hair accessories echo the star-shaped crystal ornament atop the staff, preventing the overall aesthetic from feeling monotonous. The prop staff has a distinctive sculpted form whose streamlined curve required continuous angle adjustments while holding it. Low-angle shots effectively elongated the leg lines, which, especially when paired with this White tights cosplay look, kept the visual focal point tight and centered. To maintain upper-body stability while sitting on the folding step stool, I had to balance my core while extending my legs fully forward, raising the staff and posing with a peace sign simultaneously—a pose we rehearsed repeatedly with the photographer to freeze the perfect moment.
As for the skin's design details, the off-the-shoulder sleeves, the star and bow ornaments on the chest are exquisite, while the collar accessory adds a storybook charm. To achieve this shot, we used off-camera flash with a softbox for powerful fill lighting on-site, allowing us to isolate the subject cleanly from the busy background in such a complex exhibition setting while preserving the reflective luster of the fabric and Elf wings.
The bows on the white high heels and the gradient lace along the skirt hem also fit the character design nicely. In reality, convention venues are packed with heavy crowds; to avoid passersby in Convention photos, I had to perch on the ladder and rely on low-angle shooting to keep the backdrop clean—showing only the towering exhibition pillars and ceiling—giving the subject a light yet visually dynamic presence.
For post-color grading, I shifted the tones toward cool white-pink, stripping away extraneous ambient hues to emphasize that ethereal, fairy-like ambiance. Walking around the venue in this outfit, the gentle fluttering of the skirt and wings looked gorgeous in motion. Even though the shoot was tiring, the overall harmony of the styling and character charm made it feel truly fulfilling in these Convention photos.
