This set of convention photos from the Black Dragonfly Expo turned out to be one of the most satisfying shoots recently, so I'm archiving them while it's fresh. This time I chose C.C. from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. The classic white and green color scheme paired with a techwear-inspired design yielded a crisp, sharp, and cool look within the industrial-style venue.

Let's talk about costume preparation first. The main white fabric was chosen with a matte sheen texture, fitting the original restraint outfit's feel very closely. The open zipper design on the chest and multi-layered black leather straps around the waist and collar are the soul of this outfit, preserving original settings while creating a heavy-duty modern techwear effect. The bell sleeve cuffs really tested dynamic expression during the shoot, generating strong wind resistance and a flowing look when swinging. The over-the-knee high boots were the highlight of this styling, featuring zipper and strap details at the top, combined with high platform heels at the bottom, which visually elongated lower body proportions, though indeed posing quite a challenge for standing and walking.

For makeup and wig, to restore C.C.'s cool, aloof, and nonchalant aura, I opted for a pale, clean foundation paired with light amber contact lenses to match the golden eye setting. Mint green long hair is the character's most distinctive trademark; the hair strands were cut in sections with adjusted fringe thickness so that under fans or while walking, the hair presents a great airy flow and natural wavy curve without looking rigid.

Pose design during shooting was also where a lot of effort went in. A standard standing pose like in photo three requires keeping the core engaged, using the high-heeled boots' pressure points to find body balance while ensuring the sleeve ends fall naturally. Meanwhile, the high-difficulty kick movement in photo one put the outfit's elasticity and range of motion to a big test—raising a split kick required not only exceptional balance, but also adjusting abdominal harness straps to prevent creases during stretching. This action took several captures to get the ideal moment; the photographer's shutter timing and angle control were super professional.

We chose a spacious exhibition hall at the Black Dragonfly Expo for the shoot. Overhead circular array downlights provided very even top lighting, combined with the gray reflective floor on site, which nicely outlined the character's rim light, creating a great texture contrast between the glossy white leather and matte black straps. The background was slightly blurred to focus visual attention on the character itself; this cool-toned industrial venue environment suited C.C.'s detached, otherworldly aura exceptionally well.

The entire shoot took about an hour. It required maintaining relaxed poses while constantly ensuring the costume stayed in place—especially hard to find a clean angle in a crowded convention. Although semi-transparent watermarks on the ground obstructed part of the frame, the overall lighting and atmosphere were well worth saving. The highlight of this styling lies in its interweaving of dark and pure white, containing complex belt structures and metal buckle details within simplicity, making the output visual far more impactful than expected. I hope through this convention photos archive, C.C.'s unique charm can be naturally and authentically presented.
