The original intent of this shoot was to recreate Mitsukuni Haninozuka's unique charm in Ouran High School Host Club—naturally innocent yet filled with a subtle gap-moe contrast. To match the character setting, we specifically found a tea room with a retro British ambiance as our shoot location. Black-and-white checkered floor tiles, European crystal chandeliers, and frosted glass wooden doors instantly filled the space with a rich atmosphere.
For the costume, I chose the iconic light purple suit jacket and striped tie, with the slightly curled golden wig carefully trimmed to closely match his signature hairstyle. The accompanying props were also crucial: the signature pink long-eared bunny plushie was present in almost every frame, closely bound to the character's \"cute appearance.\" The tiered dessert tray on the table was also meticulously arranged—from colorful macarons and small cakes to fresh fruit platters, paired with floral ceramic teacups and saucers in the afternoon tea setting, steeping the entire scene in a cozy, relaxed, and elegant vibe.
During the actual shooting process, the photographer's control over light and shadow was highly professional. Warm-toned side backlighting was used alongside natural light to outline the character's silhouette, giving the overall visual a retro texture without feeling overly heavy. Retro sconces, vintage ornaments, and metallic candlesticks within the studio environment all served as excellent helpers to construct the story's worldview.
Speaking of capturing poses and expressions, I believe that although Mitsukuni Haninozuka appears soft and cute on the outside—always hugging his bunny and eating sweets—he actually possesses a very resolute inner strength. Therefore, when posing, I deliberately sought a subtle balance—such as the quiet concentration of half-lidded eyes while holding a teacup, or the mischievous glance staring straight at the camera while tugging the bunny's ears. The photographer also guided me to perform inviting hand gestures or leaning lazily on the tabletop. These movements showcased his core cuteness without feeling like pure exaggerated fan-service, bringing a natural, everyday intimacy to this casual cosplay experience.
It's worth mentioning that I avoided overly exaggerated editing in post-processing for this set, adhering primarily to a \"faithful restoration\" philosophy. A subtle soft glow effect paired with locally enhanced light-dark contrast made the colors look rich and refined. Accompanied by such lavish tea treats and a spacious scene, whether in half-body close-ups or environmental full-body shots, I hope to convey the heart-healing power inherent in this character.
From early preparations until now, this work has brought me many fresh realizations. In the past when reading or watching the original work, I was mostly moved by the plot, but actually engaging in Roleplay, putting on this uniform, and sitting at a European tea table allowed me to truly appreciate the purity and sincerity behind his charm. Furthermore, this shooting location fit Xiamen's atmosphere wonderfully; long exposures and close-up shots inside old-style architecture truly brought the character's soul to life. Being able to recreate this classic anime character through Mitsukuni Haninozuka cosplay is a deeply fulfilling achievement for me.
