This photoshoot featured Lumine from Genshin Impact under an Abyss Princess concept. While retaining the character's classic blonde hair and elemental hairpieces, I incorporated a deeper sense of dark magic into the outfit. The wig was a major focal point: to match the Abyss Princess theme, I picked a layered blonde-and-white style. Blue-and-white feather hairpieces intertwined with hair strands, paired with a blue choker, creating an instant tone contrast that felt mysterious without being overly heavy.
For makeup, I placed great importance on depth around the eyes, wearing gray-blue contacts to sharpen focus, complemented by earth-toned eyeshadow and a clean lip color. This kept my face looking neat while exuding a cool atmosphere. The black velvet dress featured a deep V-neckline. The light-and-dark contrast on the velvet texture under ambient lighting beautifully highlighted my collarbone and neck, elevating the overall quality. A metal bow ornament at the waist and cutout details on the skirt added depth, ensuring the black dress never felt plain.
The venue was a vintage wooden dining bar with a glass cabinet displaying colorful liquor bottles behind me, creating lovely light spots and refractions as light hit them. Warm overhead lighting in a dim environment offered optimal conditions for Cosplay photography: it illuminated my facial contours and hair highlights without washing out the surroundings, preserving a relaxed vibe. Wanting to showcase a more grounded side of the character, I swapped weapons for props like a blue-handled silver fork, a latte with latte art, and freshly toasted cream-and-fruit bread, giving this battle-hardened character a gentle touch of everyday life.
High-angle camera framing helped showcase the overall dress silhouette while capturing both hair ornaments and skirt pairing. Holding a fork near my lips brought a casual, interactive touch. Throughout the shoot, I adjusted my expression—neither too serious nor forced into a smile—to convey detached tranquility. The combination of black nail polish, choker, and over-the-knee lace socks provided balanced visual negative space that was alluring without being flashy.
During editing, I intentionally preserved raw photo textures rather than over-smoothing the skin, allowing for a natural matte look that aligns with how skin appears under warm bar lighting rather than a plastic feel. I also slightly toned down background clutter brightness for a cleaner shot. While Lumine's base character is bright and hopeful, the Abyss Princess concept endows her with more complex emotions—calmness and resolve hidden under dark attire. Dining quietly in a tranquil bar needs no elaborate backdrops: a single light beam, a cup of coffee, and a fork are enough to convey her distinct charm. The entire process went smoothly, and I thoroughly enjoyed this immersive cosplay experience.
