For this Herta cosplay look, the first thing I want to talk about is this hat. I was actually a bit worried when I received it, because the brim is very wide and made of a slightly rigid, set material. After putting it on, the visual focus of the whole person was completely captured by this deep violet-blue. But in actual shooting, it became the most additive tool. Just by lowering the brim slightly, the mystery and tsundere sense of a sorcerer came out. Wearing it makes me feel inexplicably happy, just as described: wearing it is lovely, wearing it is happy.

Besides the hat, the detail design of this outfit is also well worth talking about. The upper body uses a bold off-the-shoulder cut, with black leather cross-straps on the back, adding some rugged texture to the softness. The black choker on the neck paired with a blue bow echoes the blue-purple tones of the clothes. I especially love the handling of the sleeves; they are a light, semi-transparent white gauze with ruffled edges, which have a great sense of layers when moving. The dark blue long skirt on the lower body is printed with light blue textures, which will show a slight luster under the irradiation of light, adding a touch of flowing beauty to the originally heavy skirt hem.

During the shoot, the photographer suggested creating a retro Gothic-style magic bookstore atmosphere indoors, and now it seems the effect is indeed very good. The dark red velvet curtains with gold edges filling the background, combined with retro gear clocks scattered in the scene and mirrors with gold carved frames, plus the dim crystal lamp lighting, make the color tone of the whole frame look very rich. The ground is the classic black-and-white checkerboard. Standing in this scene, I feel like I am truly a genius scholar living in an ancient library, just about to chant a spell to activate the magic circle.

The shooting process is actually very interesting. To capture the feeling of a sorcerer ready to cast a spell at any time or just caught in some wonderful magic vortex, we needed to capture the fluttering of the hair and the flying of the skirt hem in an instant. In the second picture, I held that slender black magic wand and adjusted my center of gravity, and the skirt hem and hair ends were frozen in mid-air by the camera. The third picture captured a look-back moment, where you can just see the design of the back straps. The expression was also deliberately handled; I didn't look at the lens but looked at some place on the side, trying to create Herta's tsundere personality of being indifferent to worldly things but also a bit poised.

Every time I portray a character, besides restoring the appearance, pondering the character's personality in the work is also a very interesting lesson. I tried my best to get closer to her usual poised and masterful feeling in my movements and expressions. The wig was also specially chosen to be this soft, straight, silver-gray style. To maintain this fluttering feeling, it was specially groomed before the shoot to avoid looking frizzy. In addition, the backless design of this outfit is actually very figure-flattering, but after putting it on, one must maintain an upright posture to have that confident state.

When this set of photos came out, seeing myself presented under the complex attire, gorgeous background, and specific light and shadow, I actually felt quite fulfilled. The preparation of props and costumes is not a particularly easy task, but the moment you truly put on this outfit, put on your beloved hat, and stand in front of the lens, all the hard preparations become a process of truly enjoying the character. The black-and-white checkerboard ground contrasts strongly with the red curtains, and under the illumination of the retro crystal lamp, the texture of the whole set of photos was well preserved by the photographer's lens. Although it was indeed physically exhausting to swing the skirt hem for dynamic shots, these efforts were all worth it to present Herta's elegant yet sharp visual effect. I hope this magical atmosphere captured in front of the lens allows everyone to feel the unique charm of this character in our Cosplay photoshoot, serving as a standout piece of Gothic style photography and Witch costume interpretation.
