Let's dive straight into this look shot this time. To fit this theme interwoven with white and pink, I made quite a few choices in makeup and hair. The base makeup has a matte texture, while the eyeshadow was blended with earthy tones, with an emphasis on elongating the eyeliner to make the eyes look softer and deeper. The wig was carefully styled; the top part was puffed up and supported with golden hairpins to hold the overall structure, while several thin braids were woven on the back, adding layers and liveliness to the styling.
The most special part of this outfit is that it places great emphasis on the lightness of the materials. The main dress is a short strapless tube design, where thin and light veil material dyed in a pink-purple gradient is spliced between the off-white outer dress and the lining, showing flowing, layered changes when moving. The gemstone decoration on the chest is the visual focus of the entire upper body; its deep blue-green crystal texture combined with the golden base looks particularly weighty under the light. Meanwhile, the alloy waist armor, with clear gold leaf texture on the surface rather than cheap spray paint, presents a very retro metallic luster under the refraction of light. It is combined with the white collar around the neckline, which has a small red pendant as an embellishment.
The sleeves are still those exaggeratedly wide flowing water sleeves, with the fabric featuring irregular dark-pattern prints. The advantage of this material is that when the arm is raised or gently spun, the fabric can maintain an outward tension rather than sticking flatly and limply to the skin. The ends of the long sleeves naturally hang two pink lotus flowers made of thin veil, which even feature simulated pistils. The treatment of the tassels and ropes is also just right; when the sleeves swing, the lotus flowers will sway like they are shaking in the wind, making it very easy to take good photos.
For the headpiece, besides a larger pink lotus, there are various metal hairpins of different shapes. This requires a fairly complex hair bun to support; otherwise, the headpiece cannot stand securely. I always like to put effort into the details of the headpiece because in Chinese-style cosplay like this, the head is often the starting point of the visual journey. The three teardrop-shaped gemstones and the golden forehead ornament on the forehead are not overly complicated, forming a delicate balance with the overall white and pink color scheme.
For the lower body, I tried white stockings with a subtle vertical stripe texture, which are visually very slimming. Paired with white chunky-heeled lace-up shoes, they elongate the leg proportions while maintaining the coordination and unity of the overall look. The white shoes and white stockings, paired with the pink skirt hem, form a very clean color block division.
During the shoot, I specially chose such a translucent indoor space. The large French windows behind brought excellent natural light. After being filtered by the glass, the light became very soft, making the overall illumination of the frame natural and gentle, without any overexposed or dead-black areas. At the same time, the outdoor greenery served as a blurred background, adding vitality and energy to the image. This is extremely helpful for shooting Chinese-style cosplay because it allows us to get a dreamy bokeh while ensuring the accurate colors of the character and outfit.
This shoot attempted several classic poses, including a self-possessed standing posture and an elegant sitting stretch. Among them, the shot holding the lotus prop beautifully highlights the harmony between the flower in hand and the headpiece. The entire set of photos mainly focuses on a serene and elegant atmosphere, which perfectly matches the temperament conveyed by this outfit. The photographer's snapshots were also highly spot-on, perfectly freezing the fleeting dynamic moments when the wide sleeves swung. In post-processing, we actually didn't apply too many complex blockbuster special effects, basically just restoring the clean texture seen by the human eye, smoothing out the softness of highlights and the transition of shadows, and focusing on displaying the design beauty of the clothing itself. I hope this set of photos by Xiao Ci can make everyone feel the cleanliness and purity behind this styling.
