The details of this outfit are truly worth highlighting. The outer black-and-gold stand-collar coat was tailored from structured, crisp fabric to firmly support the neck and shoulder silhouette, with collar and chest areas adorned with intricate gold-thread embroidery that reflects dynamic luster under varying light. For the underlayers, I chose a three-tier layered styling: rich blue at the base, white in the middle, and a pop of red scarf peeking out on top, creating rich color gradation with every movement. The wig was styled in vibrant fiery crimson, trimmed with slightly thick bangs to flatter the facial contour and tapered sharply at the sideburns; paired with green contacts, it provided immense visual impact. For makeup, contouring was applied with extra depth to define facial bone structure, complemented by slightly upturned winged eyeliner to inject a fierce, commanding aura.
This shoot took place in the convention lounge backstage, right when an amusing slide presentation was playing on screen asking 'Is this man reliable?' followed by a lengthy breakdown of pros and cons, which felt hilariously immersive. Several fellow cosplayers were resting nearby, squeezed into chairs in full wigs and costumes—some touching up makeup, others checking schedules. Despite the bustling environment, seeing everyone prepare so passionately was genuinely wonderful. I gave a thumbs-up and snapped this photo on the spot, creating a delightfully unexpected chemistry alongside that sharp question in the background.
When cosplaying characters with rich historical lore, my personal routine is always to study the backstory and character arc thoroughly before obsessing over costume hardware. For instance, with the golden accessories on the robe, I deliberately sourced actual metallic hardware instead of plastic coating, ensuring that lighting reflections remained authentic before the camera lens. Styling the wig also required plenty of hairspray and wax to guarantee it wouldn't lose volume throughout high-intensity walking around the convention floor. In my cosplay journey, I prioritize overarching color harmony and alignment with the character's core disposition over simply piling on expensive fabrics.
Although I didn't walk around much indoors today, standing poised for photos still brought out a bit of sweat. Putting on the wig and complex garments definitely tests one's patience—especially fastening the frog closures at the collar and securing those delicate accessories, which takes considerable effort each time. Yet seeing the final convention photos and feeling the warm camaraderie on site made all that preparation entirely worthwhile. Plus, that humorous trivia slide on the big screen added countless fun memories to this convention trip.
