Coming to check out the Luo Tianyi 12th Anniversary Immersive Experience Exhibition this time, the curated exhibits were genuinely far richer than expected. Perhaps due to our well-timed arrival, the hall was remarkably uncrowded, giving us a pure, unobstructed exhibition tour without queues or crowding for photo spots. After comfortably exploring every corner, I'll be attending the concert in a couple of days, rounding off this Shanghai trip on an absolute high note.
Looking back, it has been so many years since middle school when 'March Rain' completely pulled me into the fandom. Back then, brimming with passion, I drew countless fanarts and song PV illustrations. Although Vsinger's popularity might seem somewhat cooler compared to its peak era, walking through the exhibition today—especially standing before the display wall celebrating hit tracks from 2013—seeing those familiar album covers and projects welled up a wave of genuine emotion. Those melodies and visuals formed a core pillar of my youth, and seeing them meticulously exhibited on-site was profoundly moving.
Reflecting on childhood, living in a smaller town meant having zero access to offline events or novel pop-culture gatherings. Looking back at my first self-styled Luo Tianyi cosplays feels like a fond dark history now—the makeup and costumes lacked polish, and good shooting setups were nonexistent. I could only watch from behind a screen as others attended live concerts, feeling so envious. Now grown up and working in Shanghai, having both the means and opportunity to see Tianyi in person and witness it all firsthand has truly fulfilled a monumental childhood wish.
Returning to the cosplay itself: to harmonize with the exhibition ambiance, I deliberately selected this soft grayish-blue dress. The white lace trim along the collar and cuffs, paired with the bow across the chest, captured that sweet, dreamy grace as closely as possible. Wig styling also required considerable work—the iconic dual looped hair rings atop the head were painstakingly sculpted with hairspray to achieve the ideal silhouette. Paired with green contact lenses and a more approachable, everyday makeup look, it photographed beautifully under the hall's alternating blue and pink lighting. In photo one, I posed beside the massive white cat mascot at the entrance; that giant feline was undeniably adorable, with yellow-green heterochromatic eyes and a pink nose making for a precious side-by-side shot. In the following photos, I checked out the pink-themed zones and various colossal cartoon figures. The venue oscillated between cyberpunk and dreamscape aesthetics, packed with dense photo spots and statues sculpted with impressive detail.
This visit not only relived treasured past memories, but also let me capture plenty of satisfying photos. I sincerely hope for more offline events like this in the future, bringing together everyone who loves virtual singers.
