[Luo Tianyi cosplay] Chaoshan Day Trip: I Actually Forgot to Eat Oyster Omelette!

For this planned one-day Chaoshan day trip, time was tight, so I readied my wig and outfits the night before. Stepping off the train at Shantou Station early in the morning, our adventure began immediately. The first outfit was an off-white open-knit cardigan paired with a baby-blue cartoon cropped tee, light-blue wide-leg denim jeans, and white foam clogs. This styling was casual and easygoing, designed for comfortable strolling throughout the journey. The silver-grey twintail wig adorned with fishbone and star hairclips injected distinctive character recognition into this 2D daily life look.

Our first stop took us to the historic streets near Small Park (Xiaogongyuan), home to classical arcade buildings (Qilou) steeped in Southeast Asian diaspora flair. The sculpted exterior reliefs and antique window frames offered wonderful photographic texture. At noon, we scouted a nearby Chaoshan cuisine beef hotpot spot and ordered a clear broth base. The fresh beef in Chaoshan is truly unmatched: cuts like Diaolong (ribeye) and Chibing (chuck) placed in the wire strainer changed color after a few quick swishes in the broth, yielding exceptionally tender bites. Lifting the strainer, you could clearly admire the marbling across each slice. The only real regret was that in our rush, we completely forgot the oyster omelette we had originally planned to try; we only realized it after boarding the transit vehicle to Chaozhou, so making up for it will have to wait until next time.

Arriving in Chaozhou in the afternoon, I changed into my second look: a cream-colored New Chinese style outfit modern modified dress patterned with soft pink polka dots, featuring traditional frog buttons at the collar and ribbon ties at the cuffs. I layered a long strand of pearl necklace, pairing it with white crew socks and chunky black platform Mary Janes. While the dress leaned gentle and demure, pairing it with the silver-grey twintails and fishbone hair ornaments created an intriguing, playful fusion. Walking near Paifang Street and Guangji Gate Tower, the weather was brilliant with gentle breezes; strolling along the blue flagstone paving in this attire felt effortlessly light. Later, we visited the Chaozhou Prefectural Government complex and the riverfront. The sweeping river expanse paired with the ancient bridge under crisp blue skies and drifting white clouds made the photos appear pristine and vibrant.

As someone who cosplays frequently, blending character styling into travel feels like a delightful creative adventure. While strictly speaking my makeup and wardrobe did not rigidly adhere to the canon default design—incorporating more of my personal daily styling concepts and causing a minor bit of OOC, for which I apologize in advance—the journey was thoroughly enjoyable. The thick wig got somewhat stuffy after a full day of wear, but seeing the lovely photo outcomes made the minor discomfort completely worthwhile. For makeup, I maintained a dewy, translucent base paired with green contact lenses to give my facial features more dimensional definition on camera.

Though this Chaoshan day trip was packed and fulfilling, it left behind a few small regrets: beyond missing the oyster omelette, there were still so many winding alleyways left unexplored. Next time I return, I will definitely set aside several days to savor Chaoshan's food and scenery at an unhurried, leisurely pace.
