Today is Thursday, perfectly coinciding with the crossover event between Zenless Zone Zero and KFC. For this outing, I portrayed Sunna, starting by putting on the golden wavy wig before heading out and trimming the bangs to ensure a snug, face-framing fit. Makeup-wise, the emphasis was placed on pink lower eyeshadow and blue contact lenses to faithfully recreate the character's signature eye traits. The attire features an overall pink-and-white color palette accented with red straps and metallic buckles; putting it on required meticulous alignment of the shoulder straps and the skirt bow, while the red bell collar around the neck and the green triangular hair accessory atop the head served as brilliant finishing touches. Additionally, I pushed the white-framed, black-hearted sunglasses up onto my forehead so they served purely as a decorative accent without obstructing facial expressions during shooting.
Upon arriving at the KFC collaboration restaurant, the on-site atmosphere proved even more enthusiastic than anticipated. The glass storefront windows were plastered with event promotional posters, accompanied right beside by a life-sized character standee. Standing next to the standee, my primary instinct was to dial in the lighting. Glass is prone to unwanted reflections, so I coordinated with the photographer to steer clear of harsh overhead direct lighting, leveraging ambient light to keep facial rendering soft and flattering. To echo the pose of the standee, I experimented with clasping both hands into a heart shape in front of my chest, or resting one hand gently against the collar. Throughout this process, the photographer continuously reminded me to mind my expression management, keeping my gaze natural with my chin tucked slightly. To inject dynamic vitality into the frame, I also purposefully adjusted my body angle so the pleats of the pink arm sleeves and the white ruffles on the skirt gained richer dimensional layering before the lens.
Crafting this cosplay certainly demanded substantial effort regarding costume details. The arm sleeves are crafted from semi-sheer pink material with white bindings around the wrists that needed to be wrapped loop by loop; the skirt bows and belt hardware are also numerous, requiring strict symmetry left-to-right when dressing. While posing for photos with the life-sized standee, I paid close attention to our relative proportions, positioning myself slightly in profile to avoid completely obscuring the graphics on the standee while simultaneously conveying an interactive dynamic with the 2D character. Truth be told, shooting inside a restaurant presents the challenge of cluttered backgrounds—aside from the glass posters, there were tables, chairs, and passing patrons. This is precisely where a wide-aperture lens proves its worth, melting away the background into a pristine blur that makes both the subject and the standee pop prominently.
Regarding the KFC collaboration meal, I checked the menu on my phone beforehand and redeemed the voucher right upon arriving at the store. Receiving the themed packaging paper bags and merchandise made me feel how tightly integrated the anime realm and everyday dining are becoming. While resting inside the store, I also observed other fans checking in, and everyone shared an incredible passion. As someone who frequently cosplays, I find these offline collaboration settings immensely fascinating—not only do you get to enjoy food, but you get to mingle with fellow enthusiasts. The entire shooting process lasted roughly two hours, demanding patience at every single step from wardrobe adjustments to angle hunting. As we wrapped up for the day, I conveniently picked up a few extra meal sets to bring back for friends. This Sunna check-in experience went remarkably smoothly overall, with impressive wardrobe fidelity and wonderful environment synergy, giving me plenty of fresh inspiration for my next creative project.
