[Denia cosplay] Wuthering Waves Denia Convention Photos: The White Dress is Just Too Cute!

The convention photos from Wuhan CGF are finally out, featuring Denia from Wuthering Waves! To be honest, I spent a long time prepping this look. The wig has that long, light pink-to-white gradient with two small buns styled on top, and neither the hair accessories nor the sapphire choker could be overlooked. Although the outfit is primarily a white dress, the black underlayer, voluminous wide sleeves, metal chains, and plush trims give it quite a substantial weight once worn. What gave me the biggest headache was that magic staff—the metallic texture and purple orb were crafted so realistically that it felt quite hefty in hand, yet as an anime convention shoot, this iconic prop was absolutely indispensable.

While shooting on-site, the photographer and I exchanged plenty of ideas on framing and posing. Because the hall was crowded, we sought out a relatively quiet corner with a darker background. The first pose—kneeling on one knee while raising the staff—was chosen primarily to showcase the full design of the staff alongside the character's commanding presence. I tweaked my angle several times to maintain stability without blocking my face. For the second shot, I chose to sit on the floor, stretching both legs forward. Visually, this posture nicely elongated my leg lines; the fanned-out white hem contrasted against the dark backdrop, with the red gloves serving as a vibrant accent, achieving a look that was both gentle and packed with that distinctive convention photo tension. Honestly, shooting while seated on the floor was much more relaxing than standing, offering sweet relief from the fatigue of platform shoes.

For the third and fourth photos, I experimented with livelier, interactive poses. Flashing peace signs with both hands and leaning forward captured Denia's sweet, spirited 'good girl' charm. The photographer had an incredible grasp of lighting, using the venue's overhead lights to create beautiful background bokeh that completely separated me from the bustling convention chaos. Often, cosplay isn't merely about makeup and costumes; it's about continuously adjusting your state in real time. The folds of the dress, the flow of the wig, the height of the staff—every tiny detail impacts the final outcome.

Regarding makeup, I specifically matched the wig color with blue contact lenses and added reddish blending around the eyes to give them that limpid anime character look. Setting spray and loose powder were used generously to keep the face clean throughout a long convention day. The red gloves were actually quite stuffy, so I took them off to breathe after every set of poses. Handling the staff also required caution; with all the delicate pendants and ribbons, they easily got tangled. Before switching postures, I would smooth out the ribbons or have an assistant help hold them, keeping the props as tidy as possible in the frame.

I learned a lot collaborating with the photographer. For instance, when shooting seated on the ground, you shouldn't sink down completely; using core strength to lightly prop up your torso keeps the abdominal lines clean and allows the legs to extend naturally. Arm positioning also matters—keeping arms slightly away from the torso prevents flattening the silhouette of the outfit. These are very practical cosplay photography tips. Convention venues are usually noisy and lack the pristine lighting of a professional studio, but that spontaneous ambient light lends event photos a unique charm. The blurred crowds in the background and the circular ceiling light strings turned into lively elements in the photos.

Although walking through the hall in this full ensemble all day was exhausting, meeting so many friendly fellow fans made it special. Pulling off this set of convention photos smoothly wouldn't have been possible without the photographer's patient guidance and post-processing. Opening the raw files and seeing that girl in the white dress holding her staff made all the sweat spent backstage on makeup and props completely worthwhile. Anime conventions are places fueled by pure passion, where every shutter click is a fresh reinterpretation of the character. I've picked a few of my favorites to share as a record of these joyful moments. I hope to bring this gear to even more expos in the future. Looking back on this convention journey—from early costume and prop prep to rising early for makeup, then posing through the day in heavy gear—it was a true test of stamina and mindset. But seeing these photos and the vivid girl in white, all the exhaustion simply vanished into thin air.
