This time I cosplayed Lynae from Wuthering Waves. The Cyber Y3K style and her casual, slightly rebellious personality are simply a match made in heaven. When I first saw the design sheet of this character, I found it very interesting, so this time I decided to brave the pressure and recreate her, especially that casual energy of weaving through urban ruins.
First, let's talk about the situation on the day of the shoot. We selected an underground tunnel as our location, where the mottled street graffiti walls and dim lighting perfectly matched the tone of this look. However, the tunnel was incredibly crowded that day; besides passing pedestrians, there were several other groups also out for shoots, and with our photography team, the entire tunnel felt exceptionally crammed. The worst part was being spotted by a security guard uncle, who chased us around with a megaphone all the way. We had no choice but to carry our props and equipment to do "parkour" back and forth in the tunnel, seizing every available gap and angle to press the shutter. In between, we were forced to pause the shoot several times to dodge the flow of people, but it was precisely because of this guerrilla-style shooting experience that the day's output gained an extra touch of authentic street flavor.
Regarding the styling coordination this time, quite a lot of thought indeed went into it. The wig was the highlight of this shoot: a golden base matched with a light blue-green gradient at the hair ends. The hair buns on top of the head and the delicate tiny braids on the sides took a lot of time to secure, ensuring they wouldn't get messy while walking around. The small white animal hair accessory on the head was the crowning touch, adding a sliver of playfulness to the overall look that leans toward a functional street style. The costume section is the familiar white shirt patchwork design, and the gradient light water-green tie at the neckline underwent a special knot treatment. The small black square pendant on the tie and the tailored lines of the shirt beautifully accentuate the character's sharp efficiency. The lower body is paired with a black pleated skirt featuring a complex tactical belt and metallic rings, layered with additional leather belts, and the numeric patterns on the skirt also accurately restore the original setting. Most worth mentioning is definitely that holographic reflective laser cape; once hit by lights inside the tunnel, its luster is intensely powerful. Cooperating with the street graffiti background, it dials up the atmosphere where cyber virtuality and reality interweave to the max.
Of course, character shaping isn't just about stacking clothes. Lynae possesses a highly charming sense of relaxation; she isn't a tightly wound warrior, but rather has a personality where even when burdened with a mission or pressure, she can still space out in a corner or casually吐槽 a couple of words. Therefore, while shooting, I intentionally adjusted my expressions and action states, not forcing a very cool or fierce look but retaining a bit of laziness and confidence. For instance, the squatting pose in Figure 4 where my hands fiddle with my hair strands, and that misaligned selfie perspective where I lift the camera right up to the lens—I feel both beautifully captured her lively agility mixed with a slice of everyday life.
后期 @江岛鸟 在处理氛围 and light-and-shadow was genuinely highly inspired, preserving the coarse street graffiti texture of the walls while emphasizing the texture on the figure, making the final photos highly unified visually. Although this shoot was completed entirely on the run, seeing the raw images at the end made me feel everything was completely worth it. I hope this set of works allows you to feel this character's unique street charm through this cosplay journey.
