[Megumi Kato Cosplay] Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Qingdao street photography

This shoot was selected in the old town streets of Qingdao; the stone steps, blue railings, and vintage-looking architecture here are very suitable for the character Megumi Kato. The red knitted cardigan is the core of the entire styling, paired internally with a white ruffled shirt and layered skirt hems, and the thin black bow at the neckline adds a playful feel. The wig is trimmed into a neck-length bob, matched with an off-white beret. For the lower body, white over-the-knee stockings were chosen, with black strap decorations on the thighs, paired with red chunky-heeled Mary Jane shoes, forming a red-and-white echo in color and making up for the visual effect that daily wear might otherwise appear plain. The lighting on the shooting day was relatively soft, without strong direct light, making the character's state on the stone steps look very natural. The photographer's guidance was very spot-on, without making me deliberately pose in exaggerated postures. Whether sitting on the steps with a finger lightly touching the lips or holding the railing while lifting the skirt, we were striving to capture an everyday yet slightly scheming feel. Megumi Kato's setting itself is full of daily life breath, so in action design, I tried to avoid overly deliberate stage feelings, attempting to face the lens in the most relaxed state. Many people think daily-style cosplay is very simple because it doesn't require complex props and heavy special-effects makeup. But in reality, the simpler the costume, the more it tests the coser's grasp of the character's inner temperament. How to convey that quiet, non-aggressive yet uniquely attractive state through gaze and tiny movements on an ordinary step was a question I kept pondering during this shoot. To make the photos more layered, we utilized the on-site stone walls, trees, and railings as foreground or background, creating a life-like atmosphere. In terms of costume texture presentation, the red cardigan and white skirt formed a sharp contrast, looking very photogenic in the frame. I deliberately adjusted the strap details of the stockings to make the leg lines more natural. This set of photos features no exaggerated retouching, preserving the true texture of the skin, and combined with the breeze of the Qingdao streets, the overall atmosphere leans toward fresh and everyday. During the shooting breaks, I observed the surrounding pedestrians and old buildings; Megumi Kato's trait of seemingly inconspicuous yet slowly radiating charm as you get along with her fits the leisurely background color of this city very well. Through this shoot, I realized even more that what truly touches people is often not gorgeous attire, but the true breath emanating from the frame. Throughout the process, we walked and stopped on the street, recording these ordinary yet comfortable moments, which is also the part I enjoy most when portraying this kind of everyday-style character.
