The Chainsaw Man Denji cosplay shot this time, with its red background and high-contrast light and shadow, completely maxed out that "crazy and cocky" vibe. The wig underwent many layers of thinning and texturizing to recreate Denji's iconic messy blonde hair, with the hair direction and sideburns matching the original illustration style as closely as possible. The shirt chosen was a slightly off-white washed cotton, with the collar intentionally left wide open, paired with a black tie loosely hanging down. The little gesture of chewing on the communication cord was a spontaneous idea on set, which actually captured Denji's casual street-boy attitude much better than a serious, rigid pose.
During the shoot, I had the photographer position the main light source very low, casting it from the front-side angle to leave sharp shadows on the face and collarbone. This made the muscle lines and bone structure pop out exceptionally well, while the saturation of the deep red background was pushed high, creating a huge visual impact. Honestly, what attracts me most about Denji as a Male anime character isn't how strong he is, but his straightforwardness in maintaining his raw instincts even in a filthy world. While taking photos, I was also searching for that subtle state of "being exhausted but still able to grit my teeth and laugh."
The combination of a white shirt and black tie looks simple, but to wear it in a way that feels both scruffy and handsome requires careful thought when adjusting the rolled cuffs and how the hem is tucked, even trying the belt buckling style several times. This look was incredibly satisfying to shoot. The clashing colors of red, white, and black are clean and sharp, and any random frame cut looks just like a manga panel.
