This time I shot Evanescia from Honkai: Star Rail, and this look really fits the feeling of the "fragrant and soft dump truck" that I kept mentioning before. Since the target wasn't mistaken and the lines passed smoothly, my state of mind during the shoot naturally relaxed.
The shoot took place in a Japanese-style studio, where elements like cherry blossoms and paper umbrellas paired wonderfully with Evanescia's pink hair and white bunny ears, making it highly photogenic. During the hair and makeup styling, the makeup artist meticulously handled the wig layers and the blending of the eyeshadow, making the purple eyes look exceptionally agile. Aside from the iconic white shirt and red bow on the costume, the most comfortable part was the wide waistband with a golden totem at the waist, which provided a great waist-cinching effect. Paired with the dark pleated skirt and thigh rings, the overall visual center of gravity was handled very well. The metal buckle details on the black short boots also added some clean, sharp lines to the lower body.
On the day of the shoot, we prepared two small props: a cup of bubble milk tea and a slice of bread held in my mouth. Actually, the bread was real, and biting into it during close-ups felt soft and fluffy, perfectly fitting the character's relaxed and slightly playful state. The photographer's candid captures were very natural; whether sitting and raising the milk tea or holding the bread in my mouth while making a gesture of being ready to "strike," many moments were frozen during the gaps in our interactions.
Cherry blossom branches were arranged around the tatami mats, alongside Japanese floor lamps and red boxes. This backdrop atmosphere made it easy to immerse oneself in the character's scenario. Because the outfit itself has some prominent Japanese elements, pairing it with paper umbrellas and folding screens felt entirely seamless. The bunny ears were also pre-styled and structured so they wouldn't droop flaccidly, ensuring that the character's silhouette remained sharp whether in wide full shots or half-body close-ups.
The shooting period was actually quite joyful. Although I had to be careful not to spill the milk tea and manage my facial expressions while holding the bread, the overall process went very smoothly. Being able to convey the character's agile feeling within the established scene is also inseparable from the assistance of the styling studio and the post-processing team. Balancing both the style and the quality of the photos made this studio shoot experience highly satisfying.
