For this Kasugano Sora cosplay photoshoot, I chose a bamboo grove featuring a flowing stream and wooden boardwalks as the location. To suit the character's quiet, subtly detached aura, I opted for a white long-sleeved shirt with a Sailor suit collar design, paired with a light pink pleated mini-skirt. This fabric looks exceptional under natural light without being prone to harsh glare. For the lower half, I paired it with sheer Black stockings and black flat loafers, which both flattered the leg lines and formed a classic monochrome contrast against the white top. The dark gray plush toy carried in hand served as the finishing touch of the ensemble, infusing a slice-of-life warmth so the frame wouldn't feel monotonous. My hair was styled with a white straight long wig in Twintails, with the ends trimmed straight to chest level, using ample hairspray during styling to sustain its sleek drape.

While the bamboo grove environment is breathtaking, shooting in it poses quite a challenge. Because the bamboo leaves are dense, the composition can easily become visually cluttered; therefore, during the shoot, I specifically requested using a telephoto lens and a wide aperture to blur the background. The wooden bridge for the first seated pose spanned above the stream; the rough texture of the timber nicely balanced the soft, sweet aesthetic of the outfit. While sitting, letting both legs hang naturally downward, leaning slightly forward, and relaxing one shoulder allowed the Twintails to drape gracefully while elongating the visual focus of the legs. Sunlight filtering through the bamboo foliage cast dappled chiaroscuro; during color grading in post-processing, I preserved the cooler green tones of the environment and subtly brightened the face to cultivate an overall serene, chilly mood.

For the second standing shot, we experimented with backlit photography: sunlight streamed through gaps between trees from the upper right, while the camera angled slightly upward. When standing, shifting my weight onto one foot and letting the other hand hang naturally holding the plush kept the posture from feeling rigid. The backlighting created a luminous rim light halo around the strands of hair. To counterbalance facial shadows without shattering the hazy, ethereal mood of the frame, we used a reflector for very subtle, gentle fill light from the front.

Looking back across this Bamboo forest photoshoot, harmonizing the costume, props, and setting was the primary consideration. In particular, Black stockings form a heavy, prominent color block against the green background, so in both standing and seated compositions, I strove to place them in visually balanced, stable anchors within the frame. Being an outdoor shoot, guarding against mosquitoes and preventing dew from bamboo leaves from soiling the clothes were also necessary precautions. Wrapping up this set took about three hours; during peak lighting contrast, we waited in the grove until the light softened before rolling the shutter. The overall color palette and atmosphere achieved the exact aesthetic envisioned in my mind—completely different from the high-saturation styles I usually shoot—making it an extraordinarily peaceful, tranquil shooting experience.
