This hair and makeup look featuring a pink wig with blue-green highlights took quite a bit of preparation time from styling to wearing. The fluffiness and layering of the hair strands were adjusted bit by bit with a curling iron, and luckily the final result looks quite natural without feeling heavy. The first solo photo was a quick snapshot taken right after finishing the styling. The makeup deliberately emphasized eye definition, paired with blue-green contact lenses to give my gaze more spirit. The red and white color-blocked areas on the outfit, along with gold thread embroidery details, showed great texture under the convention's indoor lighting. Choosing a solid and clean background for headshots helps make the character stand out even more.
Meeting up with a fellow fan for the convention was so much fun. The second photo featuring Duo Cosplay was taken in an indoor setting with a vintage clock wall, where the warm lighting blended subtly with our overall costume styles. I winked one eye while making a hand gesture, and my green-haired partner next to me synchronously struck a matching hand pose. Our costume color palette—one pink and one green—formed a neat contrast of warm and cool tones visually, which, paired with our respective single eyepatches and hair accessories, gave the frame a stronger narrative feel. Although it was our first time partnering for a duo cosplay, our positioning and pose coordination felt very natural.
Throughout the shoot, I kept tidying the golden patterns on my sleeves and the inner lining bow tie to ensure every small detail was perfectly presented in front of the lens. Since this location was in a heavily trafficked convention area, finding a quiet spot with a clean background wasn't easy. The photographer really understood our ideas and gave plenty of compositional guidance for Convention photography, keeping the figures at the visual center of the frame without clipping clothes or hair tips along the borders. After this set of photos came out, I absolutely loved it myself.
Many people have asked about the inspiration for this pairing. Honestly, at first we just wanted to make a breakthrough in color combinations; a pink and green duo visual combination certainly carries high recognizability in a crowd. In the first image where I rest my chin on my hand, the angle and facial contours are handled naturally, without excessive skin smoothing in post-production, preserving original three-dimensional outlines. Lighting at convention sites is often messy, but this time we were lucky enough to find good light placement, allowing both the wig's sheen and costume details to be captured.
Beyond costumes, hair, and makeup, portrait photography in such large venue spaces really tests a cosplayer's presence. Eyes need to interact with the lens at all times, and hand placement requires a sense of flow and breathability without being stiff. Looking back at the photos, I am particularly satisfied with the green-haired partner's single-eyepatch design in the second shot, which, paired with the signature necklace, enriched the overall styling layers. This cross-dimensional crossover photo not only recorded our meticulously prepared outfits but also carried our love for the characters and franchise.
Every encounter at an anime convention is the fruit of many days and nights of preparation. From wigs to contact lenses, from costumes to small accessories, every detail carries our personal understanding of the character. Being able to shoot photos as natural and infused with personal style as today's is truly worth recording. No matter what themes we cosplay in the future, this convention experience and photo set will remain a wonderful memory in my cosplayer journey.
