Here is a set of Ruan Mei cosplay Convention photos shot recently, organized and shared while memories are still fresh. In Honkai: Star Rail, Ruan Mei's styling embraces an understated, cool elegance, yet her accessories and patterns are exceedingly intricate and refined, demanding high precision from both the photographer's lighting and my makeup.
The long black hair on top was styled with distinct layers, with the cyan-blue gradient dip-dye at the tips serving as the core highlight of this hair and makeup look. To capture the character's poise, I specifically chose metallic star-and-moon hair ornaments pinned to the left side, which add three-dimensional flair without being overpowering. For eye makeup, I blended cyan-blue eyeshadow matching the costume, paired with light-toned contacts to evoke a distant yet gentle gaze.
The outfit worn today is truly heavy craft. The wide cyan choker at the neck with a central ruby serves as the crowning touch; to keep the neck from looking bare, multiple layers of faux pearl necklaces were stacked to enhance luxurious depth. The top is a colorblocked off-the-shoulder design weaving deep purple and cyan-blue fabrics, framed with delicate gold piping along the edges—ornate yet clean. The white silk flower on the chest provides a seamless transition, preventing the overall tone from looking somber.
The custom ruan-style lute prop held in my hands is the true soul of this Cosplay. Its body features a translucent cyan-blue finish accented with custom gold vine decals, with an elongated neck that feels remarkably solid in hand. During the shoot, extending my right hand forward guided the viewer's focal point, which, paired with the sheer white water sleeves fluttering in the breeze, evoked an ambiance of melody before a note is even played. In a crowded anime convention, finding a corner with clean lighting for Convention photos was no easy feat.
Shooting this Ruan Mei cosplay set was physically demanding due to the heft of the costume and prop, alongside the need to maintain constant graceful poise. Yet I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself completely into the character, and the resulting photos did not disappoint. While Convention photos lack the airbrushed perfection of studio edits, their strength lies in authentic realism, capturing the most vivid live moments. The material details hold up well to close-up shots; the classical cyan-and-white palette looks gorgeous on camera, and holding the instrument grounded my overall presence.
This is the essence of Ruan Mei—gentle as jade yet commanding the grand scheme. Everyone's impression of this Honkai: Star Rail character centers on elegance and mystery, and I strived to reflect that atmosphere in this Xianzhou cosplay. The white ribbons are wonderfully flowing, testing the photographer's shutter timing, but our teamwork was seamless. If given the chance next time, I'd love to try dynamic highlight poses and expressions from specific storyline moments for even greater tension. Overall, this Ruan Mei cosplay was a delightful endeavor, and I hope everyone can feel the character's unique grace through these Convention photos.
