When shooting this Kochiya Sanae Cosplay, thick fog rolled across the venue with very low visibility, which happened to fit the theme of dispelling the mist perfectly. Because I adore Sanae's blue palette and her vibrant, ethereal character design, I chose this blue-and-white Touhou fanon costume design from Touhou Project. The outfit has numerous details, especially the wave patterns on the skirt hem and the layered lace along the sleeves, requiring meticulous attention at every part. Throughout the shoot, we kept searching for lighting angles unobstructed by the fog. Fortunately, the photographer, Mingyan, was very patient, utilizing the soft dusk light alongside the withered trees, mossy stone steps, and stone fountain in the Courtyard in the mist to craft a cool, serene, and mysterious ambiance. Props were a core highlight of this shoot; holding up the long-handled star wand was exhausting and easily obscured my face, but sitting on the steps luckily allowed us to find a much better angle. For makeup, I intentionally emphasized the vibrancy and depth of the pupils, which delivered quite an impactful visual presence on camera. Due to the cold weather and high humidity from the fog, the hem of the dress became completely soaked, and the wig easily got damp and tangled, requiring constant touch-ups with a hairdryer between takes. This set took over three hours to shoot. To harmonize with the natural garden environment, I chose quieter, more elongated poses to preserve a sense of graceful vitality. Speaking of Sanae as a character, despite her complex background lore, her steadfast protective nature and ability to bring life to her surroundings are deeply appealing. Preparing for this cosplay took quite a while; in particular, pairing the White lace socks with the shoes looked stunning in the mist, giving off the feeling of walking straight out of a painting. Having spent time making and prepping the costume beforehand, this shoot fulfilled a personal wish of mine. Being able to portray such pure elegance in a mist-shrouded courtyard was a truly wondrous feeling.
