[Kochiya Sanae Cosplay] A Real-World Encounter of Two JK Sanaes

During the second half of the Guangzhou Touhou Only convention, a friend and I wrapped up this Kochiya Sanae Cosplay shoot in the surrounding architectural spaces. We portrayed two distinct JK uniform interpretations of Sanae from Touhou Project: one with yellowish-green long hair, styled in a deep navy sailor uniform with black over-the-knee Stockings; the other featuring mint-green long hair with round-frame glasses, wearing a white sailor blouse paired with a green pleated skirt. We made full use of the high-gloss reflective floor and lengthy corridors on site, capturing downward perspective angles on the escalators alongside punchy, dynamic wide-angle low shots. For props, we brought homemade fan signs and spell cards; dashing around with them was a bit tiring, but their visual texture fit the setting seamlessly. The collar bows and pleated skirts were nicely detailed, and the shaping effect of the black over-the-knee socks flattered leg lines, making this setup ideal for snapping photos between convention activities. Because we were cosplaying variations of the same character, adjusting our positioning added a rich interactive dynamic to the composition. Under bright indoor ambient lighting, the distinct hair colors and outfit palettes produced crisp, vibrant contrast. This shoot gave me a deeper grasp of lens focal lengths and perspective compression—especially when framing lower-body shots, where a wide lens subtly elongates leg lines for a far more flattering look. Cosplaying the same persona alongside a friend always sparks creative inspiration. Bringing a 2D character into the real world and recreating that signature anime charm through framing angles and scene selection was the most rewarding takeaway from this convention.
