Joining the photo share call for the final day of the Dongguan Firefly Anime Game Carnival, right as my favorite Duck Shit Aroma iced black tea hit the bottom of the cup. I brought several looks to this event, including pink hair with elf ears and angel wings, a blue-and-white gown, a red-and-white dress, and the white Bunny girl cosplay look ultimately chosen for the cover. For the cover shot, we went with a frontal angle, keeping me nicely centered rather than near the edges. The plush bunny ears had a subtle sheen, which, together with the glossy white corset and chest lacing, accentuated great body proportions. The White thigh-highs outfit paired with high heels had a striking texture under the photographer's lighting. Dialing in this shot took time, with the photographer carefully framing the angle from the front. For the blue-and-white gown, the skirt was huge and entirely made of tulle; to create the dynamic look of floating fabric, the photographer had to capture candid moments of walking or spinning, requiring tightly pointed toes on single-leg lifts to keep my balance. The red-and-white look made the most of flowing robes, where a single-leg standing pose severely tested my center of gravity on smooth concrete in heels, though the flowing drape hid the supporting leg to create an elongated silhouette. The pink hair look with wings was even more demanding; though lightweight, the large wings easily bumped into passersby, and sitting down meant constantly adjusting their placement to rest steadily on the ground. Convention photography here put high demands on venue lighting and ambient control. With cluttered crowds behind me, the photographer utilized ceiling light reflections and stopped down the background exposure to make the subject pop, keeping the highlights on the white stockings clean. As the final day wound down, the hall was still packed with cosplayers eagerly looking for prime shooting spots. Beyond polished photos, convention photography is about the real effort and sweat poured into hitting the right poses—that authentic offline experience is what I love most.
