Happy Birthday to Shinonome Ena on April 30th! Creating this Birthday support cosplay took about a month from initial concept to final photos. Selecting the outfit took quite some time, ultimately settling on a dusty-pink off-the-shoulder knit sweater paired with a rhinestone heart pendant—a design that retains the character's delicate aesthetic while adding a touch of lively personality. The lower half features a black lace mini-skirt and Black stockings paired with platform Mary Jane shoes, which not only elongates the leg line visually, but also lets the texture of the Black stockings stand out under the café's warm lighting. The wig is a brown bob with side braids and hair clips on the left. To recreate her eye makeup, I chose reddish-brown contact lenses and blended pink eyeshadow across a large area, paired with prominent aegyo sal and mascara to make the eyes appear more vibrant and animated. The base makeup was thoroughly set to keep it clean under warm lighting.
The shooting location was a charming dessert café, where we prepared tiramisu, hot drinks topped with kitten marshmallows, and pink-and-white flowers as props. The photographer worked with me on various angles and perspectives: shooting from a high angle in a curved booth to look dainty and cute, or sitting on a bench taking a full-body mirror shot to showcase the pairing of the skirt and Black stockings to the fullest extent. For full-body shots, I repeatedly adjusted the direction of my toes and leg tension to make my calf lines look more graceful. The photos leaning against the doorframe checking a phone utilized glass reflections to enhance spatial depth. When selecting the venue, I specifically looked for wooden furniture and rattan chairs to complement the character's subtly vintage aesthetic. Arranging letter biscuits on the cake as a prop turned out exquisitely. Since I wore Black stockings, I consulted the photographer on poses to capture relaxed states—like naturally crossed or tilted legs—preventing wardrobe malfunctions while flattering the slender leg silhouette.
In post-processing, I leaned toward preserving skin texture while maintaining the character's Anime girl charm. Adjustments focused on head-to-body proportions and facial shading, along with hand-drawn stickers of birthday cats, fireworks, and cakes to enrich the celebration vibe. Sweet-style outfits rely heavily on good lighting; fortunately, this venue had ample light, capturing the soft knit textures and delicate lace trim beautifully. To achieve the right mood, I held cupcakes and drinks for several hours—tiring, but seeing the final result made everything worthwhile. As a personal milestone birthday project, I paid great attention to detail fidelity, repeatedly adjusting the hair clips' position and the necklace drape. Warm lighting was used as the base, subtly overlaid with a soft pink filter in editing. This shoot marked a small breakthrough in my cosplay journey, and I'm sharing these insights with fellow fans, hoping to convey the warm birthday spirit of this character.
