Putting on this white off-the-shoulder dress in a home style and arranging the blue twin braids, this is the Roxy casual-style cosplay shoot I'm sharing this time.
The ruffle design of this white dress actually fits the concept of "pajamas," but the material has a certain stiffness, which can support the silhouette beautifully during photos without looking loose or floppy. The tailoring at the shoulders happens to reveal the collarbones and shoulder lines, paired with a simple pair of white socks, making the overall visual look exceptionally clean and refreshing. Although she has many magnificent mage attires in the original work, this minimalist white loungewear dress can instead better highlight the character's bone-deep refinement and daily atmosphere.
The wig portion was the absolute top priority of this styling. Although the wig was originally slightly straight medium-long hair, to restore the character's slightly lazy and casual state, I spent some time hand-weaving the hair on both sides into braids. The ahoge (cowlick) on top was particularly difficult to style; I tried several amounts of hair wax and pinching angles before finally finding this naturally curved arc. The bangs were trimmed relatively flat to frame the face shape, paired with the light purple hair color, giving the entire head a dreamy color palette. For makeup, I heavily emphasized translucency and soft eye makeup. I abandoned heavy eyeliner, turning instead to a light-colored eyeshadow palette and a touch of blush, paired with light-colored pupils, attempting to exhibit a home state that has just woken up but is still refined without losing its spirit.
For this shoot, we mainly utilized two completely different scenes. Outdoors, we selected large green plants as the background. That kind of lush foliage is truly photogenic; sunlight filters through the leaves to cast soft light spots without any overexposed glaring bright spots. That natural light perfectly coordinates with the light purple hair and white clothes, giving the shot photos an inherent fresh forest-like aura. In the frame where my hands are pinching the two braids while facing the lens, the light gives the hair color a translucent texture, and I really love that lightweight feeling. This is what makes a great Atmospheric cosplay.
Later, we transferred our base to a small indoor attic. There were warm-yellow-toned wooden tables, scattered books, a small alarm clock, and various cute plush toys. This indoor environment with a clear touch of life gave the overall frame a warmer sense of story, matching better with the theme of "pajamas" and "everyday feel." Compared to the high-brightness natural light outdoors, the slightly dimmer indoor environmental light instead captured a sense of intimacy, which, paired with fill light from the reflector, made the skin tone look even softer.
Shoots of the entire work actually heavily tested the camera position and composition. Because we needed to exhibit the character's petite stature, the photographer basically had to squat to find various low-angle camera positions. However, the finalized photos indeed better highlight the costume features and the character's temperament from that perspective. Although the clothing is just a basic model, with the addition of ruffles, the negative space at the shoulders, and the embellishment of twin braids, the overall look is both a bit freshly pure and carries a touch of home-style lazy cuteness, without looking forced.
Doing cosplay is precisely most joyful like this—bringing flat characters into real life through wig care, outfit coordination, makeup design, and scene deployment. This time, some everyday-oriented trade-offs were made in styling and shooting, hoping to present a vivid, breathing, and true-to-life Roxy in front of everyone. I hope this home-style Roxy can let you feel a different side of her.
