The raw texture of film photography gives each image an unpolished, visceral punch that perfectly matches this subversive gap moe concept.
The location was a basketball gym decorated with balloon arches and a number '15,' resembling some quirky school festival. Standing on the polished hardwood floors for full-body shots, the pairing of white stockings and chunky platform shoes made my legs look remarkably long, while the skirt reflected brilliantly under direct camera flash. The costume was custom-tailored; outfits packed with sequins and oversized ribbons demand careful lighting management to prevent blown-out highlights. I chose a vivid wig, set it firmly with hairspray, and paired it with colored contacts and heavy makeup to completely transform my everyday aura.
I especially love the direct flash on film here: the shadows turn deep, crisp, and sharp, capturing a candid street snapshot feel rather than a meticulously pristine studio portrait, which lends far more narrative depth. Looking through the photos—seeing everyone striking dynamic poses across the court, or seeing myself backstage squatting down to flash a casual peace sign—felt wonderfully authentic.
