[Kal'tsit cosplay] Arknights: Research Log in a Wasteland Setting

From receiving this Arknights Kal'tsit cosplay outfit to final makeup locking took about three weeks, mainly because adjusting the shoulder's transparent sleeves and leather buckles was troublesome, and that signature black and yellow animal ear base needed to be secured so it wouldn't tilt during shooting. Today I specifically looked for this semi-abandoned concrete stairwell, as I felt this raw concrete texture paired exceptionally well with Kal'tsit's calm and slightly distant researcher temperament, plus afternoon backlighting could hit very clean rim outlines. Makeup used a cool-white foundation and grey-green contact lenses to restore her White hair and green eyes character gaze, with eyelashes and eyeliner slightly extended to avoid looking too juvenile. The fluorescent green inner top and off-white coat popped against the rough concrete background, with green shoe soles echoing the inner shirt. During shooting, I held a notebook and pen to simulate her usual state of writing medical logs or organizing data; actually, the hardest part of this set was maintaining poses on stairs without looking awkward due to high boot heels while keeping skirts from getting messed up by wind. The final render turned out with that cool tone carrying a hint of sunlight warmth, which I feel fits her character in Arknights—neither purely tough nor soft-cute, but rather a rational sense of focus. Post-processing only slightly brightened skin tone and lowered highlights without heavy color grading, as original lighting was already very clean. If shooting again next time, maybe adding experimental gear or Originium crystal props could make the frame more narrative, though this outfit and ruins background already conveyed her impression of walking across the wasteland in this Ruins style photography effort. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this attempt, especially the semi-transparent texture of translucent sleeves under backlighting, which turned out better than expected and formed a material contrast with black leather shoulder straps, giving the outfit rich layering before the camera. The wig was high-temperature silk, carefully combed before shooting to prevent frizz, though long front bangs easily blocked eyes, requiring constant angle adjustments on site. Two small fill lights were used for assistance, but natural skylight remained primary, as I wanted to keep natural light-and-shadow changes rather than sculpting purely with artificial light. That sitting pose took several takes to find the most natural sense of relaxation; holding the folder required avoiding excessive finger force to show the character's composure. I hope this photo set conveys Kal'tsit's rigorous and orderly traits even in complex environments. While shooting, I kept thinking of her sharp, incisive tone of voice, so I refrained from smiling deliberately, maintaining composure while looking straight ahead. I brought three different props this time—a pen, black notebook, and blue folder—all very daily items, but paired with the outfit and scene, they instantly shifted the atmosphere, which is the most attractive part of cosplay.
