[Thumpy cosplay] Arknights Kemonomimi Girl: Selfies Without the Carrot!

Today while shooting this Arknights Thumpy cosplay photoshoot in the studio, I snapped a few phone selfies during our break. When double-checking props before leaving the house, I somehow managed to leave her signature carrot prop behind, depriving my planned posing routine of a key interactive element. Fortunately, the massive plush beast ears atop my head are such an eye-catching statement piece that I couldn't resist taking a few selfies first to satisfy the urge.

The pastel Pink wig needed thorough fluffing to support the physical heft of those oversized ears, and the low twin ponytails on both sides had to be pinned down firmly to prevent slipping during movement. To keep the wig from looking flat, I added plenty of padding around the roots for extra lift. Cosmetically, the focus centered on the eyes and blush, paired with wine-red contact lenses; the tiny beauty mark on the left cheek was placed just right, and subtle under-eye highlighter accentuated facial dimension. The outerwear design is rich with tactical layers: a white high-collar biker-style jacket accented with glossy black bows and utility buckle straps, layered over a vibrant hot-pink crisscross harness top, with orange-and-black gloves injecting a sharp Techwear outfit edge. Because the jacket's shell fabric is somewhat rigid, smoothing out the collar and shoulder seams was essential to maintain a crisp, upright silhouette.

While shooting, to keep the upper silhouette from looking bulky, I pulled the collar slightly open to reveal the pink inner top while extending my arms dynamically to infuse the frames with vitality. Even with one prop missing, the character fidelity remained exceptionally high. Glancing into the camera during selfies, those oversized ears looked so adorably fluffy that I couldn't stop snapping photos. Since the ears are plush, they trapped considerable heat under the studio strobes; combined with the wig and high collar, I had to take frequent breathing breaks. Seeing the preview on screen made every bit of sweat worthwhile. In the first selfie, I wanted an intimate, interactive feel, reaching one hand toward the lens to exploit perspective distortion for visual tension; the second and third frames switched to relaxed poses to highlight costume craftsmanship and my overall mood. Next time, I will definitely bring the carrot prop to capture the complete action sequence. Studio lights and the white backdrop provided a clean base, requiring only minimal skin tone and contrast tweaks in post. The joy of cosplay lies in continuous trial and refining nuances—every time I slip into this outfit, I feel the character's vibrant energy.
