A maid outfit paired with black over-the-knee socks and glossy high heels inside an industrial-style factory—this marks the official completion of this Misaki cosplay convention photoshoot. To capture that unique temperament of Ryuge Kisaki wearing a maid outfit in Blue Archive, a lot of effort went into the costume and makeup preparation beforehand. The wig this time was specially styled with twin buns, paired with white lace hair accessories, and the overall blue-grey tone looks quite textured under dim light.
The costume chosen is a classic black-and-white color-blocked maid outfit. The main body of the black dress is paired with white ruffled collars and cuffs, and the bright blue bow on the chest serves as the visual center. To increase the layering of the overall styling, the lower body is paired with black over-the-knee long stockings and garter belts, stepping on black glossy platform high-heeled sandals. This combination visually elongates the leg proportions very well, while bringing out a somewhat detached and mature charm.
The shooting location was chosen in a large industrial-style factory. The ceiling height here is very high, and the circular lighting fixtures at the top are neatly arranged. We did not use large-area face lighting on-site, instead utilizing the ambient light of the location and localized fill lighting. Low-angle upward shots were a frequently used perspective for this shoot, as this not only avoids messy environments but also makes the shape of the skirt hem and leg lines more prominent. The light sources in the background of the image are blurred, forming bokeh spots of all sizes, which, combined with the overall cool and dark color tone, create a slightly cinematic and stern atmosphere.
In terms of pose design, I tried lifting the white skirt hem with both hands, twisting my body slightly to the side, and lowering my center of gravity. This posture nicely showcases the overlapping details of the maid outfit's ruffles. During the shoot, the photographer guided me to look straight into the lens with a relatively calm gaze carrying a hint of oppression. To capture the moment when the skirt hem flutters, I kept holding the skirt-lifting posture while also balancing on high heels; standing on the uneven factory floor was no small test for my leg muscles.
Because I wanted to showcase a mature and poised temperament, I didn't deliberately smile in expression management, instead maintaining a natural straight face. Combined with the visual effect of black stockings, I hoped to convey a different kind of atmosphere. The shooting time for the convention photos was quite tight, requiring rapid state adjustments in a limited time. Behind the glamorous photos in front of the lens lies continuous adjustment of positioning, arranging the pleats of the skirt, and making sure the wig doesn't block the light on the face.
The temperature on the shooting day wasn't high, and there was a draft blowing through the factory. Wearing this outfit and moving around the venue actually required a lot of endurance. But when seeing the cool-toned light and shadow presented on the camera screen, along with the natural pleated lines of the skirt, everything felt totally worth it. This time, I didn't choose overly complex background props, choosing instead to focus on the character's body language and the design of the costume itself. The ruggedness inherent in the industrial style formed a strong contrast with the exquisite and intricate maid outfit, and this visual collision was also something I loved very much when planning this set of convention photos. In terms of details, the bow at the neckline and the white ruffles on the skirt hem are extremely eye-catching in the dark-toned environment, guiding the visual focus. The pairing of black long stockings and glossy high heels not only strengthens the overall styling sense but also gives the character more tension in front of the lens. In post-production color grading, the cool grey base tone was maintained as much as possible without excessively boosting saturation, making the overall image look clean and sharp. I hope this somewhat stern style brings a slightly different visual experience to viewers who love this character.
