Prepping for this Zenless Zone Zero Remielle Dan cosplay look took roughly over half a month. The garment's cut is quite unique—the core body is tailored from high-shine patent leather with a corset silhouette, which places high demands on body shape once put on. To align with the character's overarching aura, I paired it with sheer black stockings and garter straps. The stockings were specifically chosen in a delicate, semi-sheer weave so that they could better accentuate leg lines under lighting while complementing the visual heft of the upper body. Patent leather reflects light noticeably during shooting, requiring frequent angle adjustments to avoid uneven, harsh specular highlights.

In terms of props, the black feathered wings were the key highlight; they were more articulated and boasted a better drape than conventional wings, making it easy to adjust angles when striking poses. The walking cane was also custom-prepared—featuring a metallic grip atop a sleek black shaft, it helped command a dark yet aristocratic, elegant presence alongside the ensemble. The cane was not just a decorative accessory, but also an essential tool for anchoring body weight; while sitting or leaning against the television sets, it served as an excellent visual guide.

For the set design, we arranged multiple retro CRT televisions. Stacking these TVs in varying depths was crucial to leave sufficient space for sitting or leaning against them. For the floral accents, pink moth orchids and red-and-blue blossoms were interwoven, breaking up the monotony of the dominant black palette. The backdrop paper featured a pink-to-blue gradient, and the lighting utilized dual color temperatures—pink on the left and blue on the right—creating a vivid contrast of warm and cool tones across the body. Releasing a gentle layer of haze from the fog machine immediately gave the composition immense spatial depth. This ambient lighting combined with the black patent leather garments evoked a visual interplay between futuristic sci-fi and retro nostalgia.

Because the skirt was quite short and worn with garter stockings, extreme care had to be taken when posing. For seated poses, I placed my center of gravity near the edge of the TV units and extended my legs forward, which made the leg proportions look significantly more elongated on camera. In the shots glancing back over my shoulder, the main goal was simultaneously highlighting the layered feather wings on my back and the silhouette of my legs. Mobility is genuinely restricted in this outfit—especially around the corseted waistline—but to ensure the best visual outcome, holding my breath to keep my spine straight was necessary. I tested various sitting postures repeatedly to make sure the stockings stayed free of unsightly wrinkles while letting the legs stretch out organically. For standing poses, the cane served as a steady anchor as I leaned back slightly to flatter full-body proportions. The black stockings along the legs were one of the standout focal points: with the hemline being short, the garter straps sat right across the upper thighs, requiring measured movements to prevent the straps from shifting. The semi-sheer texture of the stockings reflected varying levels of shine under the blue and pink lighting, adding rich layers of tactile nuance.

Throughout the entire session, the photographer nailed the framing with precision, capturing many frames from low upward angles or level side profiles, which framed our elaborate set while maximizing the sleek texture of the stockings and leg contours. For facial expression control, matching this dark and slightly enigmatic aesthetic meant the eyes couldn't look too soft; they needed a sense of aloof detachment. The wig was trimmed to collarbone length with slightly thinned-out bangs, and paired with crimson contact lenses, the ambient mood fell right into place. I also experimented with styling a mask—crafted in black to blend with the costume—which injected an extra touch of mystery. From early discussions to the actual shoot, every single detail was repeatedly verified, all to deliver a top-tier cosplay photoset.
