[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive: The Unique Allure of the Blue Qipao cosplay Convention photos

This convention shoot took place at CPG 08, centered on Misaki cosplay from Blue Archive. Let's dive straight into my reflections on shooting this navy-blue Qipao cosplay look.

My first impression upon wearing this outfit was how crisp and structured the fabric felt, making it resistant to unsightly wrinkles. The gold dragon embroidery on the qipao was remarkably exquisite, catching light brilliantly under the complex illumination of the convention hall. To faithfully recreate the character's proportions, this qipao features a high slit and sleeveless cut; paired with black patent leather high heels, it visually elongates the silhouette significantly. Given today's hair and makeup requirements, my eye makeup was heavily defined; the red pupils paired with deep blue long hair echoed the navy tone of the qipao harmoniously. The black ribbon on my head was another key focus during prep—to endure hours of styling and posing, the hairpin had to be anchored tightly.

During the actual shoot, the first pose flashing a peace sign was relatively relaxed and playful. The second was a classic over-the-shoulder look, primarily designed to showcase the back and side silhouettes of the qipao while using crossed legs to highlight leg curves. My personal favorite was the third photo—also chosen as the cover shot—which tested core stability to the limit. Seated on a folding chair, with one leg braced between the chair back and the floor, I held the small red heart prop, leaning forward slightly while gazing into the lens. Maintaining balance in this pose required substantial physical effort, as the heels were very high and the venue floor was slick, making balance precarious. The photographer deliberately shot from a low angle to maximize leg proportions and the high-slit design, while simultaneously framing the vintage brown suitcase prop beside me to enrich the nostalgic atmosphere.

The venue was bustling with crowds that day, leaving a bokeh of blurred convention flooring and ambient hall lights in the background. Because the lighting was chaotic, we used an overhead reflective umbrella and softbox for fill light, ensuring the dragon embroidery remained crisp and radiant while evening out skin tones. My biggest takeaway from completing these Convention photos is that Qipao cosplay outfits place tremendous demands on posture and body proportions. Factoring in props, movements had to be cautiously measured to prevent wardrobe malfunctions, while constantly fine-tuning eye angles to project the character's dignified yet enigmatic charm. This shoot would not have been possible without the seamless coordination of the photographer and our support crew, and huge thanks to fellow con-goers who gave us room to shoot.
