[Tanga Ibuki cosplay] Blue Archive: Classroom Studio Photography — Harmonizing Lighting and Posing

For this real-set classroom studio photography session, the primary focus was fine-tuning the lighting setup to accommodate the model transitioning from sitting atop the school desk to kneeling on the floor.

Before shooting, we shifted the desks on both sides outward to clear a generous center aisle, providing ample room for kneeling poses while preventing cluttered furniture from obstructing the subject. Props included a hand-drawn sketchbook and a plush teddy bear, perfectly fitting the energetic kouhai persona while enriching narrative depth. The gear remained the Panasonic S9 shot in standard color profile at a 5000K white balance with no in-camera filters, relying entirely on lighting to sculpt texture and mood.

We continued utilizing three amaran continuous lights. When the model was seated on the desk, two elevated softboxes easily illuminated the full body without requiring kickers. After shifting to the floor-kneeling angle, we lowered the two frontal key softboxes, angling them downward to envelop the subject. This ensured even, diffused exposure across the face, torso, and legs, effectively curing the crushed, muddy shadows typical of kneeling stances. A warm-amber rim light was maintained from the rear flank, grazing the hair strands and shoulders to separate the model from the classroom background, carving soft golden hair highlights and rich three-dimensional separation.

Kneeling poses explored seiza cheek-propping, presenting the open sketchbook, resting hands against the desk legs, and reaching forward to interact—prioritizing relaxed, natural postures over stiff tension to suit an authentic schoolgirl role. Studio Cosplay photography is never about locking down a single rigid lighting scheme; as camera angles and poses shift, light heights and angles must be micro-adjusted so SOOC raw captures achieve clean, luminous portrait clarity.
