Cosplaying Hiyuki from Wuthering Waves this time, what I most wanted to capture was that cool, aloof, and mysterious essence of Ashihara's snow. Bringing this desired vision to fruition took extensive preparation beforehand. For the wig, I specifically chose a natural-textured silver-white long straight style, accessorized with red-and-white ribbon bows. The makeup focused squarely on the eyes, using reddish eyeshadow and subtle detailing paired with deep crimson lips, aiming to express the character's slightly melancholic yet elegant, cool beauty.
The wardrobe is remarkably rich in detail: predominantly white with black piping along the edges, accented by crimson lining and metallic gold hardware. The waist strapping and black leather buckle assemblies are quite complex, taking considerable time to adjust during dressing to ensure a snug fit without restricting movement. The sleeves feature a wide kimono-style cut adorned with delicate prints, reflecting a lovely textile sheen as they turn. On the lower half, a mini skirt is paired with intricate strap details and white over-the-knee socks (Stockings). Because many of the poses involved sitting or reclining, special care was needed to arrange the drape of the skirt and straps to avoid awkward bunching or wardrobe malfunctions.
The location was set in a traditional Japanese room layered with tatami mats, flanked by wooden furniture and decorative screens. Illumination relied primarily on a Japanese wooden lantern placed on the right, casting a warm amber glow across my face and the garment's weave to carve out organic chiaroscuro contrast. The left side was kept slightly darker, which preserved a classical theatrical mood while drawing all attention to the subject. In the second image, holding a small red card as a prop, framed against the soft bokeh of cherry blossom branches in the foreground, added compositional depth and perspective. The photographer continuously guided my angles during the shoot—especially the lines of my waist and legs—allowing even the fine texture of the Stockings to read with crisp clarity under the lantern light.
The entire shoot was an absolute pleasure. Although the outfit was intricate to wear and somewhat restricted movement, seeing the finished deliverables made every second worthwhile. This serene, quiet atmosphere steeped in classical Eastern grace not only resonated with the character's backstory, but also granted me a deeply immersive experience during the portrayal. Without relying on excessive props, purely using light, shadow, and set design to build the mood, I hope this set conveys the poetic chill of Ashihara's snow to everyone in this Game cosplay.
