Today's cosplay is Evanescia, a character from Honkai: Star Rail. The overall color and material combination of this styling required a lot of care. To make the wig fit the head shape better, trimming and applying hairspray took a long time, and the white fox ear accessories on top of the head were specially treated with non-slip measures to ensure they wouldn't wobble when looking down or turning sideways. In terms of makeup, the base makeup was kept as light, thin, and translucent as possible, placing the focus on the eye makeup and contact lenses. The bright blue contact lenses formed a cool-toned contrast with the overall pink-and-white styling, making the gaze more focused on camera.
There are many details worth mentioning in the costume. Although the top is short, it incorporates traditional kimono tailoring, with red piping on the collar and cuffs. The wide sleeves are printed with cherry blossom and drifting cloud patterns; to make the pleats of the sleeves unfold naturally during the shoot, I specially added a little weight at the wrists. The waist area has the most layering, with a wide light-purple obi stacked with red knot cords, small flowers, and various pendants. These accessories must be fixed all at once when putting them on, otherwise they easily scatter while walking, disrupting the shooting rhythm. The skirt hem features a layered design, requiring constant attention to tidying up when walking or sitting to avoid wardrobe malfunctions or pressing out unsightly creases.
One of the most painstaking parts of the styling this time is the lower body's white split-toe long socks and the red-and-blue strapped flip-flops. Split-toe socks actually have very high demands on leg shapes, and once worn, they truly flatter the calves' lines, making the legs look more slender. However, because the material is quite form-fitting, the edges of the socks needed constant adjustment during the shoot to ensure no obvious pressure marks. Although the flip-flops look nice, the shooting location was covered with gravel; walking on gravel with such hard-soled shoes while maintaining elegant standing and sitting postures certainly required a bit of core strength.
The scene was chosen in a courtyard densely populated with red maple leaves. A smoke machine was placed in the bottom left corner, and cool white mist spread out, lifting the overall atmosphere to a fairy-land-like feel. The first shot is a sideways sit on the wooden steps. To showcase the texture of the stockings and leg lines, I chose a crossed-leg posture. In front of the camera, to keep the leg muscles from being too tense, the center of gravity had to lean forward slightly, while the toes naturally pointed and straightened downward, with the other hand resting gently on the knee, which softens the body's curves. With such wide-sleeved clothing in a sitting posture, the sleeves need to be consciously spread out to increase the horizontal tension of the frame while taking care not to obscure the details at the waist.
The second photo incorporates some post-processed special effect props. The pink translucent creature behind and the huge circular effect prop add a bit of fantastical combat feel to the originally static photo. To match the special effects, I leaned my body forward, extending one hand toward the front-side with the palm facing upward, making a summoning gesture. At this time, the gaze shouldn't stare dead at the lens, but rather look toward the direction the palm is pointing, matching the flow of the special effects to give the frame a genuine interactive feel.
Although the shooting process was somewhat exhausting—such as walking around in flip-flops on slate and gravel while occasionally tidying up cumbersome accessories—seeing the final red maples, white mist, pink hair, and fox ears swept away all the fatigue. The lightness of this styling formed a wonderful contrast with the rich colors of the scene, truly making it a fragrant and soft pink little cake.
