Bringing this Rem photo set to life took a great deal of thought right from the preparation stage. Because I have always cherished the work Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World, I wanted to recreate the character's warmth in the real world as faithfully as possible. The short blue wig was trimmed multiple times before achieving a satisfying layered look. This black-and-white Maid outfit is packed with fine details—white ruffled hems paired with black lace-up ties and an apron. To ensure the silhouette stayed crisp, it was thoroughly ironed prior to shooting. Black bell sleeves drape on the outside with purple inner lining, creating a gorgeous cascade whenever my arms are lifted.

The shooting location was decorated into a blue-toned dreamscape, hung with abundant sheer gauze draperies and furnished with a tufted white chaise lounge and a carved accent table. For props, we prepared vintage candelabras, lanterns, a lace umbrella, and an ornate carved mirror. Inspired by the post's quote—"You only know about yourself. But how much do you really know about the you in Rem's eyes? Let's start from here, from zero"—I set the emotional tone of the entire shoot to be gentle, sincere, and quietly resolute.

The shoot was genuinely exhausting because of the high black block-heeled lace-up shoes and the need to coordinate diverse poses. For example, in the shot where I hold a brass lantern with one foot resting on the edge of the chair, subtly revealing the White stockings, the movement looks effortless, yet maintaining balance kept my leg muscles tightly engaged throughout. In the frame holding the vintage candelabras, the metallic weight combined with sustaining the arm at shoulder height left my arms aching afterward. But seeing the light and shadow accentuating the folds of the fabric in the finished photos made everything worthwhile.

In posing, I strove to capture Rem's paradoxical balance of resilience and tenderness—the faint bewilderment in her gaze while examining herself in the mirror, or the quiet composure of sitting on the chair with hands folded, looking straight into the lens. Because parts involved self-portraiture alongside camera captures, mastering the lighting was particularly crucial. A cooler color temperature was chosen for the key light, casting over the white gauze and the blue-and-white floral petals on the floor to make the composition feel crisp and translucent. In post-production color grading, warmer tones were deliberately toned down to emphasize the blue-and-white atmospheric depth.

Every time I do a cosplay, it serves as a dialogue with the character. Through these garments and props, I try to sense her breathing rhythm and envision the body language she would adopt in such a scene. Though it is just a set of photos, I hope to convey that faith of "starting from zero and greeting the future with a smile." Whether in the 2D world or in reality, focusing wholeheartedly on one thing is an act of bravery in itself.
