For this share from the Firefly Full Speed Ahead ACG Expo, I specially prepared and shot this fox ear Japanese style styling with a red, black, and gold color palette, completing these official photos with photographer @二茹Ruth. The costume design features a modified ancient style cut, with a deep purple base paired with large red floral patterns and striking gold edging, making it luxurious yet steady. The off-the-shoulder neckline design nicely flatters the collarbone line, while the gold petal-shaped metal decorations at the waist and flowing metal chains add layered texture and a sense of weight to the overall look. For footwear, I chose black chunky-heeled high heels with bows, which both elongate the leg lines and form a good visual balance with the heaviness of the hem.
In terms of makeup and hairstyle design, I paid special attention to creating a delicate atmosphere with 2D characteristics. The hair has a deep black base, with curled spiral braids on both temples bringing a touch of playfulness and agility, and red tassels are added for decoration to echo the red elements of the costume. The pair of white fluffy long ears on top of the head is the core of the styling; its soft texture not only improves character recognition but also adds a cute impression visually. For eye makeup, I selected clear light-colored cosmetic contact lenses, paired with warm brownish eyeshadow and soft blush, striving to show a gentle and spirited facial state in front of the lens.
Regarding prop usage and body expression, the folding fan played a key role this time. In different photos, I explored different visual expressions by closing, half-unfolding, and fully unfolding the folding fan, combined with standing and sitting postures. For example, spreading my arms wide fully displays the wide hem and cuffs, allowing the glossiness and flowing feel of the costume to be completely presented; during sitting posture shooting, I highlighted the temperament and sense of interaction between the person and the furniture through movements like stretching out my legs and lightly resting the folding fan. The gold edges of the wide cuffs and the printed texture of the hem showed good levels of detail under a macro lens.
The shooting scene chose a setting with a strong New Chinese style, with deep-colored wooden daybeds, pure white plush fur, classical carved wooden windows, and that round warm-toned styling light in the background, together constructing a highly immersive shooting space. The simulation plum blossom branches scattered in the background and the embellishment of blue and white porcelain vases inject ancient style elegance and rhythm into the picture. The lighting technician used warm-toned lighting to illuminate the fluffy fox ears and the metal decorations of the costume, making this sense of contrast very prominent. The atmosphere under such light and shadow fits the temperament of this styling perfectly.
Making official cosplay photos has always been something I love. In the 2D world, expressing my understanding and love for a certain setting through costumes, makeup, and body language is a very meaningful thing. In order to present a better state at the Firefly ACG Expo, I repeatedly adjusted the costume details and makeup for a long time. Although I would feel tired during the preparation process, when I saw the finished photos in the lens, that sense of satisfaction brought by full devotion was indeed hard to express in words. I hope this Japanese style fox ear styling can make everyone feel my passion for anime culture.
