[Robin cosplay] The Stars Shine Because of Me, Honkai: Star Rail's Stage Illusion

"The stars shine because of me"—this quote perfectly fits the main theme of this shoot. When I first got the plan for this character, the first thing that came to my mind was an atmosphere interwoven with holiness and dreams. Whether it was the layering of the costume or the choice of scene elements, everything was built around the core concept of ethereality. The main color scheme of the entire look is light blue and pure white, with gold accents. The light blue of the wig looks very transparent under the lens. Although the golden halo on top of the head is lightweight, it required repeated positioning when adjusting angles to ensure it perfectly matched the curvature of the head whether in high-angle shots or at eye level. The pearl necklace around the neck has a great texture, adding exquisite details to the off-the-shoulder neckline, preventing the negative space from the shoulders to the chest from looking too plain.

In terms of props, the birdcage and the staff are very important visual focal points in the frame. The staff has a moderate weight and feel, and the design at the top resembling a pair of white wings perfectly fits the overall ethereal, fairy-like style, allowing for a natural, relaxed grip. We looked for lighting positions on the white spiral staircase. The photographer @零零零_ovo captured the composition proportions very accurately, managing to take in the depth of the entire staircase while ensuring the character remained at the core of the image. For the second photo with the sitting pose, I naturally extended my legs forward; the white platform heels and the lines of my legs happened to stretch right along the slope of the stairs, elongating the visual proportions. At the same time, my hands were gently crossed and placed on my knees, which, paired with slightly pulled-in shoulders, made the overall posture look both elegant and relaxed.

As for the lighting, we needed a soft, non-glaring high-key image. Therefore, we utilized a large translucent window pane as the main light source, supplemented by a cool-toned fill light for the environment. This allowed the folds of the white tulle and the blue skirt to be illuminated while retaining delicate layers. We also encountered some challenges during the shoot. For instance, making micro-adjustments to the sitting posture so that the skirt fell naturally across the steps without covering the heels, all while coordinating with hand movements—this state demanded high stability in maintaining facial expressions. To deliver the feeling of "the stars shine because of me," the gaze needed to reveal a gentle and clear look, without being too sharp.

In terms of post-processing, special thanks go to Mingri-sensei for the collaboration. When communicating, we established the tone of the image: keeping the skin tone translucent while minimizing environmental noise colors as much as possible to enhance the texture of the blue and white cool tones. Especially for the details of the white birdcage and the metal candelabra, they have a presence in the background without stealing the character's spotlight. The small golden sequins on the costume, the translucent white tulle on the sleeves, and the lace trim on the bottom layer of the skirt were all given a certain amount of sharpness in post-processing, greatly enriching the visual highlights of the image. This time, we didn't overly pursue skin smoothing or face slimming; our main energy was focused on reshaping the light and shadow.

Every creation under a specific theme deeply tests the coordination between the pre-production and post-processing stages. From the choice of costume materials to the finalization of the hairstyle and hair accessories, and down to the state adjustments and scene staging on the day of the shoot, everything relies on the professionalism of the entire team. I hope this visual presentation brings everyone a viewing experience filled with romance.
