The inspiration for this shoot comes from "Christmas in the Ten-Year Journey." Combined with the deceased husband's perspective mentioned in the description, the atmosphere of the entire photoset carries a layer of a gentle time filter. To fit the character setting, I wore silver-white hair and pointed elf ears, and deliberately added light blue flowers and golden withered branch/antler elements to the wreath. Paired with a white knit cardigan and lace skirt, it creates a sense of winter lightness for this elf ears cosplay look.
The shooting scene was selected at No. 10 Courtyard in the capital for this Beijing studio photoshoot, where the indoor space was decorated with highly festive red sequined bows, stacked Christmas gift boxes, and a wooden fireplace. We prepared a large number of props to enrich the frame, interacting in front of the color-rich background while holding a big bear wearing a red-striped sweater, carrying a cupcake dotted with berries, or holding a red bow gift box for this Christmas theme project. During the shoot that day, I tried to immerse myself in the character who has experienced long ages yet still possesses a pure mind, feeling this warmth of being watched in a room piled up with Christmas elements.
In terms of hair and makeup details, the silver straight wig has excellent luster before the lens, which, paired with the striking green colored contact lenses, makes the gaze look even clearer. The lip color was chosen to be a deeper red, echoing the grand red tone of Christmas and boosting the character's overall complexion. The ears section specially chose a style with tiny red earrings peeking through the hair strands, which both increased color richness and did not ruin the overall purity.
The interaction with props is a highly vivid part of this photoset. That teddy bear wearing a red-and-white striped knit sweater is simply a soulmate, its heavy plush texture forming a great visual weight contrast with the light-colored apparel. The subtle curvature of the fingers when holding the gift box and the dynamic posture when lifting the cupcake above my head both fill the frame with vitality. The tabletop arrangements include not only Christmas-themed treats but also a bundle of pink and white flowers, with a wooden tissue box labeled "ORIGINALS" even placed in front, creating an atmosphere full of the hustle and bustle of daily life, making the elf no longer just a distant legend.
The photographer was extremely professional during the shooting process, precisely catching every eye contact and slightly upturned corner of the mouth. Even for just a single action of raising the cake, different lighting angles were repeatedly tried to find the most suitable moment. In the final finished photos, colorful neon light strings project onto the tables, chairs, and flowers, forming a great visual counterpoint with the red curtains in the background. The elf ear accessories and red detail embellishments prevent the overall look from being too plain. The clothing's lace and golden textures also reveal their quality under the camera flash.
Actually, every time I do a Frieren cosplay, there's a marvelous feeling, as if I have truly walked a very, very long path with her. This time, under the cozy Christmas atmosphere, it was easier to express that approachability and innocence after passing through time. Although the character has experienced a lot, the kind of simplicity displayed under the Christmas atmosphere deeply touched me. Being able to convey an image of an elf with warmth in the freezing winter through this studio photoshoot was indeed a highly meaningful experience.
