This Ramiel cosplay was actually in preparation for quite a long time. This outfit has many details, especially the white collar and large star chest ornament, along with the black-and-gray color-blocked velvet-texture dress, giving an overall vibe that's slightly gothic yet playful. I chose a vibrant bright pink wig, and after putting on pointed elf ears, the character's recognizability stood out immediately.
The shoot took place at night on an elevated platform with a glass railing. Backed by the city nightscape, the blurred neon light spots served as a natural bokeh background, making the subject stand out even more. To match Ramiel's slightly mischievous yet lively demeanor, I didn't intentionally pose cold or aloof; instead, I smiled several times. That playfully teasing look and upturned smile might be closer to how this character feels in my heart.
The costume's layered design really tests how well it fits the body, especially the semi-transparent tulle sleeves, plus the leather belt buckles and red ribbons on the arms, which flow very naturally when walking. The lower skirt is paired with black lace-trimmed thigh-high socks adorned with star prints that echo the scattered four-pointed stars on the outfit. During the shoot, I tried standing poses, half-body close-ups, and squatting poses, mainly wanting to demonstrate the tailoring and details of the outfit from different angles.
What I enjoy most during every cosplay is obsessing over makeup and costume details. Although this outfit lacks overly complex mechanisms, the simple black-and-white tone clashing with pink hair actually puts light and shadow rendering to the test. The fill light used this time was quite soft, avoiding harsh facial shadows while preserving the natural translucency of skin tone and hair color. Post-processing didn't involve overly exaggerated color grading, basically preserving the night portrait atmosphere felt on location.
Honestly, shooting a Night portrait by a railing requires quite a bit of courage, as you need to dodge occasional passersby while finding good angles so background lights form beautiful circular bokeh. Fortunately, the resulting photos exceeded expectations, capturing Ramiel's blend of subtle laziness and alert sharp aura. As someone who loves trying different styles in cosplay, bringing Ramiel's look fully to life gives me a real sense of achievement. Given the chance later, I might shoot a daytime version to see how this outfit feels under different lighting. If you also like styles with star elements and elf ears, you might want to try a similar styling approach—a high waistline paired with a slightly flared skirt really flatters proportions.
