This set of photos was taken outside the venue of the Firefly ACG Expo in mid-July. Guangzhou that day was sultry with heavy cloud cover, and the sky displayed a grayish-white texture, which ended up providing the perfect muted backdrop for our compositions. Standing in front of that modern building with transparent glass curtain walls and gray pillars, we didn't deliberately seek out crowded, bustling photo spots, choosing instead this slightly austere plaza to set the overall tone.
This attempt centered on Phrolova's wedding dress concept look, with the core visual anchored in the stark contrast of "red and white." The headpiece and handheld bouquet featured a bold, vivid red radiating structure, serving as a striking visual anchor against the spotless white lace bandeau dress. That is also why, beyond the overall cool demeanor in makeup, a distinct red tear line was drawn under the left eye—not to force dramatic sadness, but as a symbolic makeup accent echoing the character's quiet persistence and serenity of "living in her own little world of joys and sorrows."
Fabric selection emphasized translucency. The lightweight white tulle skirt and the delicate lace carvings on the choker revealed exquisite layering under the diffuse light of an overcast sky. Hollow floral sleeves and cascading ruffles lent even static standing poses the rich tension of a classical oil painting. Photo 2's low-angle wide shot in particular captured the dynamic moment of the skirt and hands gently floating up. The White stockings paired with bright red stiletto heels added a sharp, refined elegance atop the airy lightness.
The biggest test of this shoot was synchronizing posture with emotional expression. Since the tulle skirt was soft, it was difficult to achieve an ethereal flow without wind, requiring me to consciously adjust the extension of my arms and the placement of my center of gravity during every brief pause. The photographer, Luohua, completely mastered this rhythm—elongating my silhouette from low-angle perspectives while extending the clean lines of the modern building in the background, pushing this cool yet resolute ambiance to its peak. In post-processing, we intentionally dampened environmental highlights to preserve the textures of the white tulle and lace, maintaining the overall palette within a cool, muted-gray visual harmony.
Looking over the finished photos again, I feel they conveyed my interpretation of this character remarkably well. She might not be fiery, nor does she necessarily seek understanding or redemption from the world; she simply stands in her own scenery, quietly savoring that romance intertwined in red and white. Doing what you love and capturing frames that convey true emotion is the most fulfilling moment for any cosplayer, and the texture of this wedding dress and the ambiance on site completely met my visual expectations of her.
