Bringing this Wuthering Waves The Shorekeeper costume from fabric sourcing to final fitting took about half a month of careful refinement. To capture the ethereal, tranquil blue palette unique to the character, I compared swatches across several fabric shops, ultimately settling on a chiffon with a subtle pearlescent shimmer paired with matte white fabrics. This combination creates gorgeous gradient dimensions under natural light; however, it snags very easily, so wearing it demanded extreme caution—walking and sitting down required smoothing the skirt folds step by step. The upper bodice cutouts and the golden collar necklace were custom-crafted by a prop artisan. For the wig, I used a teal-to-blue gradient piece, styling blunt bangs and twin sideburns while sculpting textured layers with hair wax.
For makeup, to harmonize with the cool overarching palette, I used a light blue base accented with silver glitters across the lids, elongated the eyeliner smoothly along the eye contour, and chose a moist, dewy red for the lips to infuse a touch of radiant life into the cool tones. Lighting during this shoot proved to be a formidable challenge. To achieve that soft, translucent feel of natural illumination, the photographer @杰杰又菜又爱拍摄 poured immense thought into lighting setups and camera angles. Photo 2 was captured in a public shopping mall concourse; to eliminate background crowds, we used a wide-aperture lens to melt the background into creamy bokeh while utilizing floor reflections to provide subtle underfill lighting. Holding the crouching pose was actually quite exhausting: I had to keep my upper body upright while letting the skirt cascade naturally, all while ensuring the silver threads along my arms didn't get tangled. Resting my fingers lightly over my knees might look effortless, but we experimented with several angles just to guarantee the visual anchor settled naturally on the facial features and arm jewelry. To convey the character's aloof, ethereal detachment, I deliberately slowed my blinking, cast my gaze slightly downward, and looped transparent filament thread through my fingers to add subtle interactive storytelling.
The butterflies and stardust effects were added in post-production, but throughout the shoot, I continuously visualized arcs of luminescent light hovering around me. The silver armlet and beaded bracelet on my arm were sourced separately; the armlet ran slightly loose, so we pinned it discreetly from behind. Because the fabric is so airy and sheer, choosing the undergarments was equally crucial to ensure zero visible lines. This cosplay aimed to convey far more than visual wardrobe accuracy—it sought to embody that quiet, mysterious, yet profoundly gentle soul of the character. From test makeup and prop adjustments to final post-processing, the journey was demanding, but seeing the blue butterflies flutter through the interplay of light and shadow made every ounce of preparation feel completely worthwhile. I hope this photoset allows everyone to feel her unique enchantment.
